About me

ABOUT ME: My core values has always centred around helping people, and my passion lies in clinical work, working directly with patients, helping turn their lives around. I firmly believe that disease and poor health doesn't have to exist, and I’m deeply driven by wanting to solve the puzzle of diseases, and unlocking the key to each client’s unique case. I’m also driven by always seeking improvement - whether that’s the quality of the skin, feeling of vitality, or performance. Many people are simply unaware that they can improve the version of themselves with natural medicine - no matter how perfect they were to start with :).

I hold a 3yr Naturopathic Nutrition diploma (2004-2007) and am completing a BSc in Nutritional Science (2014-2019, which includes Functional Medicine training), plus years of clinical experience in working with digestion, hormones, inflammatory conditions and pain, rheumatoid and thyroid autoimmune, and cardiovascular risk, skin eruptions and many more.

Functional Medicine is a Nutritional Therapy method where we focus on 'optimising' function or alleviate dys-function brought on by incorrect diet (such as the 'Standard British Diet') or lifestyle practises. You could call this 'lifestyle medicine', and this terms is more commonly used by Doctors and Nutrition Professionals alike.

We think of dysfunction as caused by a lack of something such as nutrients, oxygen or hydrochloric acid to give some examples, or an overwhelm of something (e.g excess toxins, immune activation). Either can cause 'stagnation' or blockage in one of the body's systems such as circulatory, nerves or muscles (via molecular actions), leading to imbalance and the symptoms you are experiencing. I look at where this may be taking place, and then use nutritional strategies to address the overwhelm or underwhelm to restore function and alleviate symptoms.

  • Gastrointestinal dysfunction: A whole spectrum of disease and the root of many other dysfunctions such as immune, skin, bladder and reproductive organs and even weight gain in spite of food restrictions
  • Immune dysregulation - representing as joint pain, auto-immune conditions, food intolerances
  • Hormonal imbalance and interplay - adrenal (stress), thyroid and sex hormones in particular
  • Metabolism - dysregulation of appetite and energy leading to fatigue or weight gain
  • Energy - ageing, energy production, structural degeneration - Oxidative stress & mitochondrial function
  • Detoxification - Toxins, toxicity and impaired detoxification and the systemic effects such as hormone imbalance, skin issues and more

Should you wish to learn more about what the above means, or to find out how this all relates to a real person (you!), please do not hesitate to get in touch for a very informal chat. There is no such thing as a silly question :).
