Dr Elena Leschen MD, NT, mFHT, mIFM
My broad knowledge of Functional and Nutritional medicine underpinned by conventional medical training allows me to define unique personalised approaches to restoring health.
Patients I work with benefit from a comprehensive health and nutritional assessment based on my clinical analysis and appropriate functional laboratory testing. This leads to Personal Health Programmes that address the individual’s needs and goals inclusive of nutritional and dietary recommendations, lifestyle coaching, naturopathic and metabolic detoxification protocols.
Understanding that every person is unique and treating the whole person, not the symptoms, my aim is to identify and address the TRUE root causes of dysfunctions in order to support healing and/or maintain your optimal health.
Your present state of health is the result of the interplay of many different factors over your lifetime, i.e. diet, lifestyle, stress levels, environmental, including your inherited strengths and weaknesses.
We all have innate ability to heal, however your personal journey will be as unique as you are in the approach required, experiences, length and level of commitment.
I will be glad and privileged to assist you on your own healing journey.
Areas of particular interest are:
Women's health, fertility and conception nutritional support
SIBO (bacterial overgowth), SIFO (fungal overgrowth), IBD, Reflux, sluggish bowel, etc
Hormonal imbalances: Thyroid, Adrenal, etc
Weight loss / management
Immune system dysfunctions
Mineral dysregulation (iron, copper, magnesium, calcium imbalances) and related conditions
Vitamin D deficiency / history of supplementation and related mineral imbalances
I offer personal consultations, group workshops and training sessions for practitioners.
Continuous Postgraduate professional development is a major factor helping me to achieve the highest standards of practice.
Training, qualifications & experience
Thank you for your interest in the work I do and let me briefly share with you some of my professional journey which started over 30 years ago.
After gaining Doctor of Medicine degree (Rostov-on-Don State Medical University, Russia, 1984-1991) I practiced as an MD specialising in Obstetrics and Gynaecology for 12 years in 3 countries (Russia, Ghana and UK) and gained a lot of clinical and life experience.
However, I became increasingly aware of the limitations of conventional medical approach and expanded my expertise far beyond it to include a Postgraduate Degree in Naturopathic Nutrition (College of Naturopathic Medicine, Edinburgh, 2006-2008) and studying further in the areas of Bioenergy Medicine (NES Health, UK, since 2016), Mineral Dysregulations (RCPC, Copernican Institute, USA, since 2018) and Functional Medicine (IFM, USA, since 2011).
All of the above add up to somewhat unique set of skills and expertise combined with my ever-growing passion for Health and Healing happily shared with everyone I work with. My current practice approach can be described as Functional / Nutritional Medicine that goes beyond the standard model.
