About me
Dr Lisa Gatenby, Registered Nutritionist
I am a Registered Nutritionist, with a PhD in Nutrition, a Masters of Medical Science in Human Nutrition and a BSc (hons) degree in Food.
I specialise in complex medical and brain injury cases, offering an individual person-centered approach (see below under 'consultancy' for more information).
I have been approved as a Registered Nutritionist by the Association for Nutrition (the controlling body for Nutritionists). I started my career with a love of food and worked in catering and food industry for 8 years. I then studied a Masters of Medical Science in Human Nutrition and completed a PhD at the University of Hull in children’s nutritional intakes.
After my PhD I worked at the University for 8 years in Research and as a Senior Lecturer in Nutrition and Food on both undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes. I also worked in Public Health at Leeds City Council, where I set up various programmes to help reduce health inequalities and improve the nutrition of at needs groups across the City and rolled out community cooking programmes teaching school teacher to be food specialists.
Consultancy
For the last 10 years I have being working on a consultancy basis, offering food and nutritional advice to companies and individuals. I deliver training and corporate wellbeing sessions as well as the RSPH qualifications in Food and Nutrition. I also undertake specialist work on complex medical cases, in both children and adults. Providing a person-centered approach to support the adoption of a healthy balanced diet, controlling weight and supporting healthy development through good nutrition and healthy lifestyle habits.

I offer one to one advice for individuals, nutrition training courses and consultancy to schools, government and companies.
I myself love food and as a qualified chef I fully understand everyone wants to eat great tasting food, the key is to ensure you take the right steps to ensure that your food is healthy and satisfying.

Association for Nutrition
The Association for Nutrition is the professional body for the regulation and registration of nutritionists, including public health nutritionists, exercise nutritionists, and animal nutritionists.
The Association aims to protect the public and promote wellbeing by admitting to the UK Voluntary Register of Nutritionists (UKVRN) only those who demonstrate high ethical and quality standards, founded on evidence-based science.
It sets proficiency and competence criteria, promotes continuing professional development and safe conduct, and accredits university undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
