About me

All consultations will now take place using Skype, Zoom, WhatsApp and Telephone.
These methods of communication are really easy to use and the consultation process is exactly the same as when you come into my clinic.

I am a Registered Nutritional Therapist with clinics in Penarth and Barry.  I see clients with a range of different symptoms but have a special interest in busy women who struggle with issues such as stubborn weight loss, low energy, poor digestion and hormone imbalances.

I graduated with a degree in Nutritional Medicine in 2011 and since then it has been incredibly rewarding for me to see how my knowledge has been able to help improve the health and well-being of so many people - just like you!

My Approach

I am passionate about the benefits that a good diet can have and believe that everyone can gain health improvements from eating nutritious food. Having said that, choosing nutritional therapy does not mean that you have to cut out all of the foods that you enjoy. It is about making simple, practical changes that become a way of life and give your body the nutrients that it needs to thrive. I will work with you to develop a realistic programme that fits in with your lifestyle and will help you to reach your health goals.

I provide tailor made meal guides, recipes, shopping lists and supplement advice together with email and telephone support.

Making small changes to what you eat in can have a big impact on your wellbeing. Whether you have a specific health concern or just want advice on how to improve your existing diet please give me a call.

Your weight loss journey with Penarth Nutrition starts with a full consultation where we discuss your specific problems and concerns. Together we agree on a realistic plan and I will take you through a step by step process to ensure that you can easily integrate these healthy habits into your daily routine.

I am available for ongoing email or WhatsApp support for a whole month.

This eating plan is not a gimmick, there are no shakes or point counting just nutrient dense food which will keep you nourished and sated and therefore less likely to make unhealthy food choices.

HORMONE BALANCE

Hormones control multiple body symptoms including energy levels, metabolism, mood, motivation, hunger, fat storage, blood sugar control and this is why that when they are out of balance it can have such a big impact on our lives. I can advise you on the best foods to eat to balance your hormones naturally and get you feeling more energised, motivated and happier!

DIGESTION

Even the most nutrient dense foods are worthless if there is inadequate digestion as the absorption of nutrients will be compromised. Gut microbiota aid food digestion and absorption, and inhibit the development of pathogenic bacteria.
Research shows that alterations in these ratios may lead to a change in gastrointestinal function and health.

I work on a one to one basis with my clients to support their gastrointestinal health and function through the personalised use of foods, food constituents and biological agents (probiotics).

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a BSc in Nutritional Medicine from the University of West London and am a member of the British Association of Applied Nutrition and Nutritional Therapy (BANT).

I am also registered with the Complementary and Health Care Council (CNHC).

Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council

The CNHC encompasses many types of alternative therapy, including massage, aromatherapy and nutrition.

In order to be admitted to the register a practitioner must have studied to the National Occupational Standards for that profession/discipline, or have reached the equivalent of the National Occupational Standards through other relevant training or at least three years of experience and been assessed by their peers.

A practitioner must also have professional insurance and agree to abide by the CNHC Code of Conduct, Performance and Ethics.

BANT

British Association for Applied Nutrition and Nutritional Therapy

The British Association for Applied Nutrition and Nutritional Therapy is the professional body for Nutritional Therapists.

There are different BANT membership classes, including Full Member, Fellow Member and Student Member.

All BANT practitioners must have met the required standards of training, be fully insured and adhere to the BANT Code of Ethics and Practice.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Initial Consultation - Cost £120

The first consultation usually takes just over an hour and establishes exactly what you want to achieve from any dietary changes. A health history will be taken, together with details of your current lifestyle, food intake and of course your likes and dislikes! Based on this information I will suggest changes to your diet that will help you to achieve your health goals. I can also provide meal plans, shopping lists, recipes and, if necessary, supplement suggestions.

Follow-Up Consultation - Cost £60

Follow-up consultations may be required to assess your progress and the number of sessions required depends on the individual case. The follow up consultation enables me to monitor how you are getting on and as your health improves, I will revise your programme accordingly. If you are finding it difficult to implement any part of your programme, I can adjust the prescription to help you make changes more effectively.

  • I will send you a questionnaire - this is the starting point for your personalised nutrition plan.
  • We meet up at my clinic room in either Penarth or Barry and chat about your health goals and how your body is responding to the food that you are currently eating. We then agree on some easy to follow changes to your diet.
  • You leave the consultation with a clear idea on how to implement your nutrition and lifestyle plan.
  • I email you a summary of our discussions and a personalised recipe book.
  • We keep in touch! I provide ongoing support for the length of your programme.
