About us

Food for the Brain is a charity focused on raising awareness of the importance of nutrition in mental health and mental well-being. We work to inform, educate and empower individuals to change their diet and lifestyle and support their own mental health.

Alongside the charity, our not-for-profit specialist clinic, the Brain Bio Centre, helps individuals by utilising nutrient-based prescriptions and dietary and lifestyle recommendations to assist mental health conditions. The clinic’s not-for-profit approach means that any excess monies raised are transferred to Food for the Brain enabling us to further our important work into research, education and promotion of the benefits of nutrition.

Training, qualifications & experience

All our Nutritional Therapists are members of BANT and registered with the CNHC.

They hold a wealth of experience in supporting clients with their mental health and wellbeing, and we have specialists in nutritional therapy for children's learning and developmental difficulties, depression and anxiety, improving cognitive function and psychosis.

Information about health conditions (*)

Nutritional therapy can help enhance the well-being of individuals diagnosed with serious medical conditions, but should not take the place of medical treatment and advice. If you have been diagnosed with - or suspect you may have - any of these conditions, please speak to your doctor before starting nutritional therapy or making any major changes to your diet or lifestyle.

Additional information

Option 1 - PERSONALISED TREATMENT PLAN

This option is a more affordable way to approach our clinic and is also more appropriate for those who feel they do not fit into the package diagnoses. We invite you to call the clinic to book a consultation (£160) with our experienced team who will work with you to develop a personalised treatment strategy which will include recommendations for specific dietary changes, nutritional supplements and may include some biochemical testing. Biochemical tests are a beneficial means of analysing contributing factors to your symptoms and well-being. You can choose to have a consultation only and then work with your nutritional therapist to identify appropriate tests you may wish to have.

Option 2 - COMPLETE PACKAGES

For your convenience we have put together complete packages. These packages are a cost effective option for those seeking to investigate all the possible contributing biochemical factors. The package price includes costs for a comprehensive set of tests, as well as the initial nutrition consultation and, where appropriate, an appointment with a psychiatrist. Tests can be done in advance of the appointments providing a fast track to treatment.
