About me

With overwhelming messages on diet and nutrition we often find ourselves confused on following the most credible dietary advise. There are many common health problems and conditions which can be improved, prevented or managed by a better healthier diet and lifestyle. Cecilia is a Registered Dietitian who has specialised in many different areas of dietetics and provides evidence based advice to achieve permanent and life-changing results. Each client is given a unique tailored approach using most up to date scientific evidence along with guidance to best alter their diet to have strongest effects on their health. Cecilia offers Dietetic Services in a wide range of different conditions as specified below.

Training, qualifications & experience

Cecilia Jaarsma is a Registered Dietitian with extensive international experience in clinical dietetics, and has worked at leading London hospitals including Royal Marsden Hospital, Royal Orthopeadic Hospital, Priory Hospital Roehampton and Royal Hospital for Neuro Disability.  Cecilia has worked as a dietitian for the past 9 years specialising in many fields including Oncology, Diabetes, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Nutrition Support, Weight Management and Mental Health. Continuous NHS service started in 2009. She qualified from the North West University in 2008 with a BSc Hons in Nutrition and Dietetics.

Qualifications:

- BSc (Hons) Human Nutrition and Dietetics.

- Part time Group Fitness Instructor. Qualification obtained from Discovery Learning.  Fitness Instructor Training - Post Graduate Certification.

1.    Gut health:

Cecilia provides expert, evidence based advice for patients who are looking for dietary management of Coeliac disease,  Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Inflammatory Bowel Disorders (IBD), Chrohn’s Disease, Ulcerative Colitis, Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) or food intolerances. Other issues include bloating, abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhoea, reflux, heartburn, food allergies or sensitivities.

2.    Weight management, Heart Health and Healthy Eating for the workplace:

Whether you are looking for a weight loss plan or need support to improve your diet for a healthier lifestyle, Cecilia will give you expert advice to follow the best diet for our individual needs and daily lifestyle. Individualised diet plans will be provided to support and to help you manage your weight. This service will take into account your current weight, lifestyle and personal goals. You will be given specialised advice to help you get to your nutrition goals and can have as many or as few sessions as you feel you need.

3.    Diabetes:

Nutrition management is fundamental for the prevention of Type 2 diabetes and the effective management of both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. Cecilia is an experienced registered dietitian in Diabetes care can provide ongoing nutrition advice to all people with diabetes or at high risk of developing diabetes.

4.    Sports Nutrition:

Cecilia is a registered dietitian as well as qualified fitness instructor. She has experience in providing sports nutrition counselling to marathon runners and triathlon athletes.     Cecilia uses a holistic nutritional therapy approach to support athletes to achieve their goals by making sustainable nutrition and mindset changes that are practical and work around busy training schedules and lifestyles.  All advice will be individualised to each athlete.

5.   Mental Health/ Eating Disorder:

From her experience working at the Priory Hospital in Roehampton, Cecilia is able to provide specialist advice on adults and teenagers with eating disorders.

6.    Cancer:

Dietetic support is fundamental in cancer care and recovery.  Cecilia has specialist oncology experience to provide support during, before and after planned treatment. Nutrition goals include preventing treatment interruptions, helping to ease side effects, and improving overall quality of life.

Experience in managing other, late effects of cancer treatment such as gastrointestinal issues (includes bile acid malabsorption/dumping syndrome/bacterial overgrowth), weight loss, weight gain and reducing the risk of cancer recurrence
