About me

At OptiMe, I offer nutrition and lifestyle support to optimise mind and body health. I have a special interest in digestive and gut-related health due to my family history of bowel issues, mind and mood health and auto-immune conditions. My own health journey also led me to nutritional therapy.

I firmly believe that your life should not be dictated by your digestive symptoms; with some targeted support in the area of diet and lifestyle, always coordinated with primary care, you can manage your health symptoms and therefore your overall well-being effectively.

I currently work in person from a Multidisciplinary clinic in Handcross, |West Sussex with weekend in-person slots at a clinic in Lindfield, West Sussex. Half of my clients attend clinics with me online, which also suits those who live away from Sussex.

If you would like to find out more about how I can help you, please visit my site and sign up for a free 15 minute discovery call https://www.opti-me.co.uk/consultation. We can then talk through your health problems and discuss whether a programme with OptiMe would be beneficial for you.

Consultations

Consultations are one to one either online or in person depending on your preference.

I will ask you to complete a questionnaire before our first appointment which includes your health history and a 3-day food diary. Then we will have our initial appointment together which will be around 90 minutes long. This helps me to understand what might be going on for you, your dietary habits and how you have arrived at your current health status. We may also look at any tests that you may have had to date and discuss any future tests that may help you on your journey. We will also discuss your key goals from our sessions together and then agree on a targeted dietary and lifestyle health plan for you to put in place to help achieve your key goals. Dietary and any lifestyle recommendations that I make, will be guided by evidence-based research. We work together to ensure they are achievable and fit into your day-to-day life.

Our follow up appointment will be up to 60 minutes in length, and will usually be four to six weeks later. During this appointment, we will discuss your progress and set out any further changes as needed.

We can also discuss if you need to add on any consultations. You may need to add on several hour long sessions or just a final 45 minutes session to round up on a plan. A 45 minute one-off session at the end of a programme costs £90.

In summary

  • Three hours of consultations over approximately 12 weeks (via video call) - usually a 90 minute initial appointment and 2 hour long follow up appointments.
  • Case analysis and health assessment
  • Personalised nutrition, lifestyle and supplement (if appropriate) plan after each appointment.
  • Interim email from me to follow up on your progress.
  • The possibility to extend the programme.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Diploma from the Institute for Optimum Nutrition and am registered with the British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine. I regularly exceed the hours of Continuous Professional Development required for my profession as I have a real passion for learning and staying in the loop with Scientific Research and evidence-based practice.

Testing

I have a wealth of experience in test interpretation.  In my clinic, I sometimes use functional testing from leading professional laboratories, to help me understand what may be contributing to health imbalances; blood tests (often done via your GP), stool tests, breath tests, urine tests, genetic testing, hormonal testing to name but a few. Many tests can be done easily from the comfort of your home but we also have a phlebotomist on hand in Handcross/Crawley.

My nutrigenomics practitioner qualification enables me to understand how current health might be affected by a pattern of genetic variance and how by looking at your DNA, we see how your genes may impact your response to food, your microbiome diversity, nutrient needs and metabolism. Our genetic blueprint is not necessarily our destiny and a keen understanding of lifestyle and environment may be more of a clue to what can be driving ill health.
