About me

May Simpkin is a UK-based Masters qualified nutritionist with a down-to-earth approach when it comes to healthy eating for weight loss or improving debilitating symptoms like IBS, fatigue and disrupted sleep as well as difficulty with menopause symptoms.  She believes in eating real food and cooking from scratch to create simple meals that are nutritious, colourful and flavoursome.

She is passionate about empowering confidence, with the right tools and knowledge to ensure vitality, energy and lifelong health.

Through nutrition, a large number of health symptoms can be alleviated and in some cases, significantly.

Over the last few years, there has been an increasing understanding of the link between gut integrity and total health. By ensuring that food is well digested and well absorbed, we can help the body to ensure it receives enough nutrients to improve health.

Some of the health issues where Nutritional Therapy can help are:

  • Gut Health; Difficult Digestion, Wind, Bloating, Bowel Discomfort/Difficult Movements
  • Weight Management; Overweight/Weight Gain, Healthy Eating, Balanced Dieting, Cravings, Children/Teenagers
  • Immune Function; Colds/flu, Cold Sores, Low Energy
  • Stress/Fatigue; Managing Cravings & Energy Levels, "Tired all the Time", Mental Health
  • Women’s Nutrition & Health; Thyroid problems, Hormone problems, Mood Fluctuations
  • Men’s Nutrition & Health; Heart Health, Stress and Energy Levels, Balanced Diet
  • Children’s Nutrition & Health (incl. Infants/Pre-School); Healthy Eating, Encouraging Balanced Diet, Food Allergy/Intolerance
  • Skin Health; Dry skin, Spots/Pimples
  • Sports Nutrition: Optimal Nutrition/Performance
  • Life Stages: Balanced/Healthy Diet for all Ages

A bad diet, lacking in the right nutrients can account for a number of conditions that, all too often, you accept as part of your normal lives.

Your health is important! With a little more understanding and careful guidance, you can take simple steps to make changes that can have a profound effect on your health and wellbeing.

May can help you achieve this!

Training, qualifications & experience

My interest in food, its therapeutic uses and the impact it can exert on our lifestyle, prompted me to study Nutritional Therapy and I have been passionate ever since.

I continued studying until I achieved an MSc with Merit in Personalised Nutrition which has added enormous value to my research and clinical capability. The course focuses on personalised healthcare using the “Functional Medicine” approach, which primarily addresses disease prevention and underlying causes of chronic illness, using both mainstream and complimentary approaches. It has allowed me to consider a more systems based approach to health, providing a deeper insight into how any potential imbalances in one area may be influencing or linked with another.

My clinical experience since qualifying has highlighted that we all have unique nutritional requirements and a ‘one-size fits all’ is not appropriate across different groups; gender, age, stage of life are all significant factors.

By improving knowledge and understanding of how food affects your wellbeing and by providing practical, achievable plans for private and corporate clients, your overall health and quality of life can be significantly enhanced.

“My experience working with May Simpkin has been very rewarding and has resulted in significant progress against my objectives of weight loss and increased energy.

May’s approach to nutrition is pragmatic and positive. It’s not about crash dieting or regimens that would require an inordinate amount of time, energy, and money to implement.  Instead, her approach centres on teaching the fundamentals of nutrition, understanding my needs, and proposing a range of alternative, superior alternatives…..

Throughout our cooperation, May has maintained a positive and encouraging manner. After each meeting with her, I leave feeling energized and determined to keep improving further.

I am grateful to May for her support and would recommend others to work with her to help achieve their health and nutrition objectives.”
