About me

Hello, I am Dr Nina. I’m a Registered Nutritional Therapist, qualified pharmacist, and a PhD in Organic chemistry who specialises in gut health and pain and fatigue issues.

I’ve always wanted to help people heal and trained to become a pharmacist. However, after over five years of study I started to notice that we, as a society, are overmedicating but getting sicker and sicker. Since my education also included herbal medicine, I soon realised that herbal remedies should be the first option, before moving to pharmaceuticals.

Edinburgh, Scotland is where I did my PhD in Organic Chemistry (hence the Dr in my title) and where I live with my husband and children today.

My personal health journey had led to my special interest in chronic conditions that involve pain and fatigue as my health drastically deteriorated after I had my first child. I was constantly exhausted, and in pain all over my body where I could not even get out of bed. I felt isolated, hopeless and desperate to feel better. All I got offered were variety of antidepressants, without even a diagnosis. Desperate for improvement I have tried them all, but the side effects were horrible, and I felt even worse.

I knew that I had to take a matter in my own hands.  My research background meant that I love detective work and I am great at it. So, I started digging for solutions using my knowledge in pharmaceuticals and organic chemistry (the building blocks of life). Having always suspected we are overmedicated, and with personal experience of the harsh side effects, I started to look into nutrition and lifestyle. This led me to the Institute for Optimum Nutrition for a Nutritional Therapist degree.

The superior results I’ve achieved for myself and my clients with this approach has been very exciting. I believe that your supermarket is your pharmacy, your kitchen is your lab, and you can learn to be your own scientist and harness the healing power of food.

You can read more about me and my approach on my website www.drninanutrition.com

I live in Edinburgh, but see clients all over the UK via Zoom.
