How to eat with celebration and beauty
The preparation of your meals is almost as important as the meals themselves. I want to encourage you to practise "eating with ceremony" and there are a few tricks you can learn to start eating beautifully.
Think how you would feel if you were on camera. Would you be ashamed to be seen eating as you do? If so, don't do it to yourself, because how you feel about yourself is far more important than what others think about you. Apply the "Instagram test" and feel proud of the effort and self-care you put into everything you prepare. The positivity it infuses you with is astounding and boosts your motivation overall.
Tips to eat with celebration and beauty
Buy the very best ingredients
Buy the best ingredients you can afford, and store, prepare and arrange the food as beautifully as you can.
Sit at the table to eat and lay it beautifully, even if you are eating alone
It needn't take more than a minute, once you're in the habit, and you'll instantly enjoy your meals more. Invest in the gorgeous plates, cutlery, napkins and placemats, little by little. It needn't cost a fortune but should make you happy.
Commitment to certain meals being with all the family or friends and creating the time so that you can relax, enjoy the conversation and make a special effort with the meal. It can be done, if you prioritise it.
Never eat standing up ever
You'll drop a dress size alone by adopting this habit. Be mindful of what your body wants to eat, prepare it well, and always eat sitting down.
Always eat with screens off
By not eating in front of a box set or checking your email, your brain will register that you've consciously eaten a beautiful meal. Your email work and life can always wait 20 minutes Occasionally enjoy a TV supper, but lay a tray beautifully.
Think ahead and prepare your 'on-the-go' snacks as if you were doing so for your best friend. A little pot of salted pecan nuts, with a ziplock bag of fresh cherries in your bag, makes your snacks so much nicer than grabbing something last-minute from a petrol station and eating in the car. You have to prepare to make snacking pleasure -it won't just accidentally happen.
Once you reach your goal, we will slowly reintroduce the celebratory foods that you feel are "worth it", so that you can sit down in your favourite restaurant and order whatever jumps out at you. You'll pop over to friends for dinner and happily eat whatever you are given because no food is "naughty" or "a sin" - especially when you're eating it in perfect balance with the most nutritious and healthy foundations.
Remember: This is not a diet, but a style of eating that will form the foundation of the way you eat forever. I want you to fully embrace it and put love and effort into every meal and snack. If you approach it like a 'diet and eat cold chicken and iceberg lettuce for lunch, you're sabotaging your chances of success. You're telling yourself it's miserable is setting yourself up to fail. No meal or snack should feel depressing, if it does, you're just not doing it right.
