About me
I am a HCPC registered Dietitian with over 18 years experience working in the world of Nutrition and Dietetics, supporting clients with their nutrition needs. I am passionate about nutrition and well-being and I am strong believer that good nutrition improves both your body and state of mind.
I am able to provide both face to face or virtual consultations. My specialist areas are IBD, IBS, coeliac disease and gut health. In addition, I am able to provide advice on low FODMAP diets and conditions such as high cholesterol, lactose intolerance, nutrition for cancer and weight loss advice.
My youngest son and I both have coeliac disease and we have to follow a lifelong gluten free diet. Living with Coeliac disease, I understand the impact of dietary restrictions and how to make changes towards eating behaviours, tailoring meals to a budget and adapting cooking methods.
I like to use a friendly, practical approach developing positive and sustainable changes for my clients. I can work with clients to develop bespoke individualised meal plans or develop nutrition and lifestyle goals to suit your needs. Please visit my website nutritionwithsandy.co.uk
Training, qualifications & experience
I have worked as a NHS dietitian for 16 years and I still currently work within the NHS on a busy digestive diseases unit. I work with inpatients and outpatients requiring dietary advice for inflammatory bowel disease, liver disease, bowel problems and upper gastrointestinal issues. I set up private practice approximately 1 year ago and have helped many clients with IBS, weight loss and gut issues. I am trained to provide advice on low FODMAP diets.
Prior to being a Dietitian, I was a dietetic assistant and in this role I analysed food diaries, set up and participated in health promotion displays and organised hospital snacks for patients.
I have a postgraduate degree in Dietetics and undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences. I have completed cognitive behavourial courses and the parenteral and enteral nutrition (PENG) nutrition course. I also help train student dietitians and junior doctors.

school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 14 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
