About me
I’m Pratima Goodfellow, a Specialist Gastroenterology Dietitian at The Gut Health Clinic with over 20 years of clinical experience. I support adults with a wide range of digestive conditions, combining deep clinical expertise with a calm, practical approach to care.
I have worked extensively across the NHS, most recently as a Specialist Gastroenterology Dietitian and Interim Head of Dietetics, alongside private practice in the UK and Hong Kong.
How I can help you
I support people who are dealing with ongoing digestive symptoms, complex diagnoses, or conditions that haven’t improved with generic advice.
My areas of expertise include:
- Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
- Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis
- Coeliac disease and gluten-related disorders
- Bile acid malabsorption (BAM
- Reflux and upper gastrointestinal symptoms

- Functional gut disorders, including bloating, abdominal pain, constipation and diarrhoea
I also have experience supporting individuals with:
- Food intolerances
- Nutritional support pre and post surgery
- Menopause and bone health
- Long-term and complex health conditions
My approach
I take a personalised, evidence-based approach, recognising that no two gut conditions present in the same way.
Rather than applying overly restrictive or generic plans, I focus on understanding your symptoms in the context of your medical history, lifestyle and goals. From there, we build a structured, realistic plan that supports symptom relief while protecting long-term health.
A key part of my work is helping you feel confident managing your condition, without unnecessary restriction or confusion.
My experience
I have over two decades of experience working across hospital and community settings within the NHS, alongside private practice.
My clinical work spans a broad range of gastroenterology services, including complex case management and multidisciplinary care. I am Monash-trained in the low FODMAP diet and experienced in supporting patients through structured dietary interventions safely and effectively.
Alongside my clinical work, I have contributed to digital health innovation, developing evidence-based content and care pathways for digestive health platforms. I am also an experienced educator, supporting dietetic students and healthcare professionals.
The Gut Health Clinic
I work at The Gut Health Clinic, a specialist service led by gut health scientist Dr Megan Rossi (@theguthealthdoctor). The clinic brings together a team of expert gastro dietitians with 80 years of combined clinical experience and has supported more than 5,000 clients since 2018.
We work closely with GPs, gastroenterologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure your care is fully integrated and aligned with your wider medical needs.
What to expect in your first session
Your first appointment is a structured consultation where we take the time to understand your symptoms, medical history, lifestyle and goals in detail.
Following this, you’ll receive a personalised plan with clear, practical steps to move forward. I’ll also guide you on how many sessions are likely to be needed so you have clarity from the outset.
If you have private health insurance (including Aviva, Bupa, Cigna, Healix, Vitality or WPA), your appointments may be covered. Get in touch, and we can guide you through this.
