About us

Hi, I’m Dr Ambar

A former NHS GP, Registered Nutritional Therapist and BANT Registered Nutritionist® (mBANT, CNHC), with an MSc in Nutrition Science and Practice.

I support families (mums, dads, babies and children) with nutrition and lifestyle changes to optimise gut health, energy, sleep and mood, reduce stress, and support common childhood concerns, using a root-cause, functional medicine approach.

Training, qualifications & experience

I worked as a qualified GP for six years before deciding to step away from medicine as I knew it. During my time as a GP, my interest in nutrition and its role in health kept growing, so I studied for a Master’s degree part time while still working and looking after my young family.

Training in root-cause medicine, also known as functional medicine, completely opened my mind to new ways of supporting and optimising both mental and physical health. It gave me a deeper understanding of how the body works, its biochemical processes and pathways, and the underlying causes of symptoms that I hadn’t always been able to explore fully as a GP. Retraining showed me what a truly whole-person approach can look like, and added a new depth to the care I can offer.

Further information

I’m passionate about helping people reach their best possible wellbeing, and I wholeheartedly believe everyone has it in them to get there. I offer a compassionate, no-pressure, evidence-based approach to your health and your child’s, and I work alongside your GP, health visitor and any other medical team, so you get the best of both worlds.

I believe there is so much more to health than the symptoms we notice. As well as looking for the root causes, I like to consider emotional, mental and spiritual wellbeing, so I can support you holistically and not just from a medical perspective. I’m a creative person, and I love bringing this into everything I do, including the way I support you and your child.

Since retraining, I’ve also become passionate about supporting my own family’s health journey, so I understand first-hand how much small, realistic changes can make a difference.
