About me

Have you tried many different approaches to get well and not succeeded?

I've been a registered nutrition practitioner for over 14 years and my area of expertise is in helping my clients to get to the root cause of their issues and start to feel good. I work with a variety of health issues which include gut health (I.B.S, food allergies), hormone balancing and weight management, hypertension/hypotension and other health related conditions, and provide:

  • Diet and supplement recommendations.
  • Guidance on tests, including help manoeuvring through NHS tests.
  • Tools and techniques to support your healing journey.

I've also been an advisor for a probiotic company for the past six years and have trained many healthcare practitioners in the importance of gut health. Whilst gut health, and in particular the gut-brain axis is my particular interest, I've helped hundreds of clients with a broad range of conditions and health goals, each with their own story and benefiting from a completely unique approach.

Naomi contacted me in the summer of 2015. She had been having problems with her gut for months and was getting to the end of her tether. I worked out which foods were triggers, planned out a healthy daily diet plus a course of supplements to help heal her gut and rebuild her strength. I was also able to steer her through NHS tests. After following my plan for 4 months her symptoms slowly faded.

Jayne was another client, who came to see me due to gut issues, from which she'd been suffering for over 10 years and had undergone many exhaustive investigations. Jayne was unconvinced anyone could help her, but after simple testing, the possible source of her problem was identified. Modifying her diet, and creating a supplement programme, she found that, having avoided so many foods for so long, she could eat normally again.

Ingrid was a worried mum, who contacted me due to ongoing health problems her daughter was having. As well as gaining weight around her middle, her main issue was an unsightly and painful rash on her skin and around her eyes. In Ingrid's words, her daughter had "tried every available treatment through the doctors with no success and as a teenager battling with exams, the angst of growing up and an unsightly rash in a very visible place it has all been very distressing for her".  Ingrid admitted to being sceptical when she contacted me, but was prepared to give anything a go. I took time to understand the issues, analysed the potential causes of the skin and weight issues and explained how certain things could be impacting her daughter. Health issues have often developed over years, and consequently there's rarely a quick fix to getting well, but in this case, after following my recommendations, Ingrid's daughter was rash free within two weeks and within three months was a healthy weight.

How can I help you?

Good nutrition is unarguably a fundamental part of keeping us healthy, but over the years I have learned that it’s not the only thing.  Underpinning many health conditions are a myriad of issues, whether that's previous viral infections, mould exposure, chronic stress, or trauma.

In fact, emotions are very much connected to our physical health, and everything we have ever experienced can change the way our body functions. Equally our physical health can deeply impact our emotional health, interfering with our everyday life, causing huge amounts of stress and taking the enjoyment out of things that should normally be fun.  Whether that's going out for a meal and being limited in what you can eat in case you get some kind of a reaction, or not being able to go out with friends because you simply don't have the energy.

That's why I use a whole person approach to look at every single part of what makes you an individual, and make recommendations based on what you need to nourish your body, mind and soul. That way you not only look great but you feel completely in balance and can once again live your life rather than just exist.

In addition, I'm a breathwork coach and Forest Bathing guide, so if stress is part of the issue, I can incorporate these techniques into your programme, to help you relax and start to feel better.

What happens in a consultation?

Before you book I recommend we have a 15 minute discovery call so you have the peace of mind to know that I can help you.

If you're happy and would like to go ahead with an initial consultation I will send you out a questionnaire and food diary, which I ask you to return at least a couple of days before the consultation.  That way, if I need clarification on any of the questions or need further information before the consultation I can get in touch, leaving the consultation free for you and I to go through factors that may be contributing to your health issues and a clear plan of action to address these factors.

What do you take away with you?

It's entirely optional but I usually recommend at least one follow up after your initial consultation so we can see how you're getting on, go through the results of any tests I may have recommended in the initial consultation and understand whether anything needs tweaking or including in the current action plan.

However, I will always be guided by you, your situation and your preferences.  This is your health journey and I am here to successfully navigate you through it with ease, reassurance and clarity.

What happens next?

I would love to help you so please either text or ring me on 07426 889469 or email me.  I will then send you some dates and times for a discovery call.  I look forward to hearing from you, and please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions or need any further information.

Further information

I began my nutrition journey in 2002 when I became ill after a minor operation. Initially, the wound wouldn't heal and within a couple of weeks I had also developed a chest infection, been prescribed antibiotics and thus followed several urine infections too.  Clearly my immune system was low and the antibiotics I was prescribed for the various infections was compounding the issue. I eventually turned to nutrition and never looked back.  Using food as my medicine was a revelation and I became fascinated by all things nutrition. Over the next few years I did lots of reading and research into nutrition and finally decided to study it so I could pass on my knowledge and passion to others.

Testimonials

“Thank you Elizabeth for your expert advice. I can honestly say I have never visited as thorough a Nutritional Therapist as you and your dedication really showed. After having my consultations I am left with a lot of information about my particular concerns and what I can do about them.  Thanks again.”
Sari

“I was about to undergo my third round of surgery and start IVF. Then I met Liz, a fully qualified nutritional therapist. She got to the root of my problems by showing me how certain types of food were actually making me ill and where I was deficient in key nutrients.  Working with Liz gave me the best possible chance of IVF working.  I completely changed my food lifestyle and the magic happened.  Within 3 months I got pregnant just before the start of IVF.  This nutritional programme from Liz gave me my baby boy and completely turned my life around.”
Sarah

"Well part of my motivation to see you was to work towards this week, I’m emailing from the Caribbean!  I probably peaked late November as the build up to Christmas was pretty heavy going! However, as a result of seeing you I am a lot healthier in between naughty meals and have been more injury free than ever, doing a lot more running. The down side is that I’ve had to buy some smaller clothes!"
Matt

"After suffering gastrointestinal problems for over 10 years and after many exhaustive investigations I consulted Elizabeth.  I was not convinced anyone could help, but she was very understanding and after a simple test the possible source of my problem was revealed. With her help and advice I followed strict dietary modifications and began taking the supplements she recommended. Having avoided so many foods for so long I now can eat most things and can cope so much better. It is great to be free of the constant discomfort.  Don’t hesitate to consult Elizabeth for advice, it will be worth it."
Jayne

"I met with Elizabeth in the summer of 2015. I had been having problems with my stomach for months and was getting to the end of my tether.  She patiently and knowledgeably advised me to avoid certain foods and planned out a healthy daily diet plus a course of supplements to help heal my gut and build my strength back up. She was also excellent in steering me through NHS tests. I followed her plan for 4 months and my symptoms slowly faded. I still follow the diet advice she gave me.  Her follow up appointments were very encouraging and her email correspondence was supportive and prompt.  I cannot recommend Elizabeth enough."
Naomi

"My daughter, 17 years, has suffered for the last two years with a skin rash on her neck and her eyes which at its most severe causes discomfort, swelling and bleeding where the dry skin on the rash cracks. We have tried every available treatment through the doctors with no success and as a teenager battling with exams, the angst of growing up and an unsightly rash in a very visible place it has all been very distressing for her.  She has a real sweet tooth; constantly snacked, saying she was always hungry despite having a pretty healthy home cooked diet. Mix this with a hormone condition and she started to gain weight around her middle, which was unusual in our family, and was constantly outgrowing her clothes. Just for the record, although it may not seem it with the symptoms I have described, my daughter is a fit, healthy and normal teenager!  It came to a head when a stranger approached her at work, pointed to the rash on her neck and voiced her disgust at the rash clearly believing it to be ‘love bites’ – I cannot begin to explain how upset she was. That’s when I contacted Liz Cooper, I located her on the internet, conducted a bit of research on the references provided and booked an appointment. I have to admit, at first, I was a bit sceptical as I thought we ate a healthy, balanced diet but I was prepared to give anything a go, not just to me but to my daughter too. Liz suggested a series of foods to remove from my daughter’s diet and provided a range of simple recipes and ideas for meals to try out. The meal plan and recipes were easy to use and something tasty that the whole family could do without having to make a special meal for one person, which as a mum to three with a busy full time job, convenience was really important. It transpired that my daughter was lactose intolerant and within days of changing her diet the rash had completely gone and she began to slowly and steadily lose weight around her middle. After two weeks she could get into her favourite jeans, had lost 8lbs, was filled with energy and I really mean it when I say she was a new woman and so thrilled with what she had achieved!

Liz used her expertise to identify the potential causes and with a bit of perseverance and some new culinary skills it all slotted into place! Now I know that it might take more trial and error with some people but Liz used her expertise to identify at the outset the most likely causes – and she was absolutely spot on! My daughter no longer complains of feeling hungry, she has cut out sweets and pop, her two real vices with relative ease, with just the first week being a bit tough – that doesn’t mean she doesn’t indulge her sweet tooth but with healthy nutritional treats instead of the sneaky sugar fuelled highs she was indulging in. Three months on she remains rash free, has maintained a healthy weight and the whole family continue to introduce new recipes and food sources – it required a bit of effort at the outset, but it has been good fun trying out new recipes, finding new sources of nutrition I had never even heard of and the rest of my family who were equally as sceptical as I was are true converts! In very simple terms, Liz was brilliant, she has completely transformed my daughter’s and our family’s life through just two appointments and great email communications. Liz responded promptly to all queries, was always happy to help, however trivial the question and there has been no extreme or faddy diets to master – I just wish Liz had been my first resort and not my last as I would have avoided the last two years of trauma and upset. Not only would I highly recommend Liz, I would be more than happy to share my experience with those of you who may still be a little sceptical – don’t hesitate, just do it, it will change your life!!"
