About me
I’m Joanne and I help people who are struggling with gut and tummy issues (gastrointestinal), or want sports nutrition advice. Ten years ago, I trained as a nutritionist after my own experience with the doctor with long term issues. A lot of my clients come to me struggling with discomfort, bloating, gas and a lot of stress and worry about what to eat. For some that gets in the way of them enjoying exercise such as running with their friends, or an important sports event, and for many other people it’s about how it affects daily life at work and socialising.
Talking about your health might be something you haven’t done before, and I know that talking about digestion can be even stranger. Honestly it will be fine, we’ll chat about the type of food you like, what issues you have and what we can do about them. I want you to understand the triggers, what food will suit you, whether stress or something else plays a part and answer your questions to take away the overwhelm.
If sport is your passion or your hobby and you have a health condition or a niggle getting in the way then finding out how nutrition support could help you will be mind-opening. There is so much more than the traditional focus on carbohydrates and proteins.
I’m also a yoga teacher and I'm insured to advise on relaxation and movement, and I’ve got a breadth of experience and training to help you with habits and behaviour, such as health coaching and NLP (neuro linguistic programming). We’ll talk about your goals and whilst we’re focused on your digestion you can rest assured that I can help you with areas such energy, blood sugar balancing, hormones (e.g. perimenopause), weight management and sports recovery if you need that.
My approach is unique as I combine technical expertise along with empathy and good listening skills.
- Nutrition expertise (10+ years) and degree qualified.
- Coaching/behaviour change (health coaching, NLP and member of the Association for Coaching) (10+ years)
- Movement, breathing and stress relief - Yoga teacher 15+ years (British Wheel of Yoga teacher)
- Background in engineering (degree qualified) and IT in corporate businesses so I am organised, reliable and confidential, and I’m a small business owner myself.

- You’ve done some tests with your GP, private health or online (e.g. Blood tests, stool, genetics etc.) and you're not sure what to do next. You'd like to talk them through and create a plan.
- You're tired and not sure you're sure you're fuelling your sport or recovering properly, you need some expert advice and are curious about how else we can fine tune your performance.
- You have a health issue and want to find out what foods and supplements you can use alongside medication or your condition.

'In a very short time Joanne's thorough approach and advice helped me to resolve an ongoing digestive issue, which is a great relief. She has also made a number of positive dietary and wellbeing recommendations which I have successfully implemented and feel better for it! I would definitely recommend'. Jon from Reading.
'Joanne is a fantastic nutritionist who really takes the time to listen and understand your individual needs. She gave me clear, practical advice around my diet and food intolerances, helping me make simple changes that have had a big impact on how I feel day to day. Her knowledge and supportive approach made the whole process so much easier and more enjoyable. I’d highly recommend her to anyone looking for expert guidance on their nutrition and overall wellbeing'. John Cusworth
'We were recommended to Joanne to help with our son’s diet. As a teenage high level athlete with gluten and dairy issues, Joanne was able to understand and reflect with appropriate and specific dietary advice for daily like but also specifically for pre event energy and post event recovery avoiding all issues. Over the months we’ve experience non of the “usual” issues we’d come to expect.
We are very happy with the advice and approach Joanne provide and would definitely recommend her services!' Kryton57
'Joanne has helped me set up and interpret a range of tests to look at how I process nutrition, what may be missing and how diet can help fuel my running better and support general wellbeing. It's been a truly fascinating process and I'd recommend it to anybody who is curious about how their individual metabolism works and how this impacts daily life, mental health and fitness. Some areas are a work in progress for me but I've noticed huge improvements in digestion through following Joanne's guidance and recommended supplements and I'm excited to see what other tweaks can help with other priority areas!' Emily Niekoop-Bird
'Having recently completed Joanne’s meno hormone programme I’d absolutely recommend Health and Hart.
I’ve a very physical job and was constantly tired; Joanne suggested a specialist urine test; then working with the results advised which supplements to take. I’ve never felt so healthy.
Interestingly she encouraged me to eat more food, especially protein,, and always have healthy snacks available. Oh and not to feel guilty if I do have the odd slice of cake… but maybe not every day!
Thank you 😊' Helen Gregory
'Thank you for supporting my son in his football journey, providing key insights to improve his healthy habits❤️🙏' Roland Radu
'Joanne's personalised advice has been very helpful for me in gaining a better understanding on my nutrition and health. With the vast amount of dubious information out there it's great to have somebody who can give science-based nutrition advice and help you look beyond the headlines and understand what things are important and relevant to your specific health needs, and why'. Karl Sanz Martinez
'Before I was working with Joanne I was suffering from low energy levels, my nerves were up and down, I was comfort eating to cope with stress, I made poor diet choices, seriously overweight, poor sleep and I was miserable. I've learnt about how food, sleep and exercise can improve my mood and aid controlling my nerves.
Working with Joanne is great as she breaks the most complex things into bite size chunks and makes everything clear and achievable which is why I have seen huge improvements in my energy, mood, sleep (I now sleep over 7 h compared to 5h before we started) and improvements in my body composition' Greg, Fit by 40!
'I had been suffering from frequent colds during 2019, so I approached Joanne for support with my immunity in the lead up to the winter cold season. Joanne’s advice helped me to stay well for three months over peak cold season, which was a real result. I implemented most of what Joanne suggested, so it just goes to show that it really works!' Wendy Rooke
"After suffering a stress fracture through over training and under fuelling in 2017, I found Joanne and booked a 1-2-1 consultation to see if there was anything in my nutrition plan I could improve… as a sporty GP I thought I knew it all and was sceptical, but it turns out med school doesn’t teach you everything!" Kate Robinson, GP

Please see feedback from a few of my happy clients with a range of goals and health interests, many more available on my website!
"As an exercise physiologist myself I always thought that I had enough knowledge to manage my nutrition alone, but at this level, I could not be further away from the truth. Even with my background Joanne gave me a substantial amount of advice on what to eat and how to combine nutrients. I would recommend Joanne to anyone who is involved in any kind of activity that aims to improve their health or their athletic ability. Thank you Joanne!"
Dr George Balanos, MSc, DPhil (Oxon), Exercise Physiologist
