Hi, my name is Jo and I am a qualified Nutritional Therapist. I am experienced in helping clients different health issues, and I work successfully with female hormonal imbalances, stress-related conditions, weight management and many others conditions. I consult face-to-face in Brighton & Hove, or online.
I believe that finding balance is the key to abundant health and vitality. Often people force themselves to make healthy choices, get obsessed by a fad diet, or make a series of attempts at trying to get healthy, without finding the balance in their lifestyles that they are actually seeking. I'm interested in exploring many aspects to guide a client to that elusive place of balance.
No two people are the same, as the factors that make each and every one of us tick are unique. Giving yourself the gift of undivided time to consult with a nutrition and health professional allows you to shed light on your own habits, needs and health goals. I enjoy being able to facilitate and guide each client to a place of better health, vitality and balance.
I am fascinated by the profound effect nutrition has on the body. When disease processes and imbalances have set-in, nutritional therapy can set you back on the path to health again by addressing underlying causes, rather than simply treating symptoms.
In the first consultation, I look in detail at your diet, lifestyle, sleep, stress levels, previous medical history and current symptoms, to work out a plan specific to you. Any changes we make to your diet are for therapeutic reasons, for example, if you're suffering from a particular condition, I'll explain to you what foods are making your condition worse and which foods and nutrients will make your condition better. Quality supplements may also be prescribed to correct imbalances and top-up your nutrient levels where needed.
Training, qualifications & experience
Having trained with the College of Naturopathic Medicine, I qualified in 2008 as a Nutritional Therapist. I am also a member of the British Association for Applied Nutrition and Nutritional Therapy (BANT).
I am qualified to understand the biochemistry of disease processes and can therefore shed light upon foods and habits that may be hindering the healing of a particular condition, as well as suggesting specific nutrients to enhance certain biochemical processes and address biochemical imbalances. I am passionate about functional medicine and orthomolecular medicine and the profound effects they have on healing imbalances in the body.
I'm also a qualified yoga teacher and often combine relaxation and mindfulness techniques with nutritional therapy to address stress related issues.

I offer a 15 minute Free initial telephone consultation to see if nutritional therapy may be of benefit to you, and to answer any queries you may have.

- First appointment lasts up to 60 minutes during which a detailed case history is taken. (This is also available online if you prefer, so please contact me from anywhere!) You will be asked about your current health, previous medical history, stress, energy and sleep patterns, as well as your diet and lifestyle. You will be sent a pre-consultation questionnaire to bring with you (or email back) to your appointment. I will then go away and prepare you a written personalised nutrition plan which will be sent to you via email after your appointment.
Often tests may be recommended, such as hormone testing, food intolerance testing or stool testing to investigate further.

A little bit more about me - I spent three years living and working at a cleansing and fasting wellness retreat in Thailand at The Spa Resorts, Koh Samui. As their Executive Health Consultant, I guided many people through supervised fasting programs and helped them to make healthier food and lifestyle choices for when they returned to their home countries. I also ran my nutrition consulting practice from there and saw hundreds of clients from all over the world with an array of health complaints. I then moved to Berlin, Germany, where I started running detox workshops until giving birth to my daughter in the Spring of 2012. I enjoyed a healthy and vibrant pregnancy and a non-medicated natural water birth, thanks to the wisdom of yoga and meditation and by following a healthy lifestyle. I relocated back to Europe in 2011, I now live in Brighton where I see clients for nutritional therapy and run the 3 Day Green Smoothie Detox.
Location - Central Hove, a short walk from Hove train station. Numerous buses stop just outside the clinic. I also consult via Skype for clients who are not in Brighton and Hove.
