About me
I’m Patricia Herbert, a Specialist Paediatric Allergy Dietitian with over 15 years’ experience supporting babies and children with food allergies, feeding challenges, and restricted diets. Alongside my private practice, I work within the NHS as a Specialist Allergy Dietitian and in 2018, I was honoured to receive the Allergy UK Hero Award for my work supporting families navigating food allergies.
I specialise in helping parents make sense of complex and often overwhelming situations, from suspected allergies such as cow’s milk protein allergy (CMPA), to managing restricted diets safely, to confidently introducing foods and allergens. I provide expert support with weaning, allergen introduction, and allergen prevention, helping families build strong, positive feeding foundations from the very start. My approach is always practical, evidence-based, and tailored to your child, but just as importantly, it’s grounded in real life.
As a mum of four, I understand the anxiety, time pressures, and uncertainty that can come with feeding young children, especially when allergies are involved. I’ve personally worked through food introduction ladders, navigated fussy eating, and experienced the messy reality of weaning. That means I don’t just offer clinical guidance, I offer support that fits into your everyday life.
In consultations, I provide clear, structured advice with a strong focus on ensuring your child’s nutritional needs are fully met, even on restricted diets. Families often come to me feeling unsure or overwhelmed, and leave with a clear plan, reassurance, and confidence in what to do next.
Parents frequently describe my approach as both highly knowledgeable and genuinely supportive. One parent shared that I was “professional, caring, and provided detailed, evidence-based advice,” adding that my guidance helped them successfully introduce allergens and complete the milk ladder even before their NHS appointment. Another said they felt “heard for the first time,” while many highlight the reassurance of having a clear written plan to refer back to.
I support with:
- Food allergy diagnosis (delayed allergies) in babies and young children, whether they are bottle or breastfed.
- Support with confirmed IgE allergies and other allergic conditions such as Food Protein-Induced Enterocolitis Syndrome (FPIES)
- Cow’s milk protein allergy (CMPA) and milk ladder guidance
- Support with egg, soya and wheat ladders
- Weaning, allergen introduction, and allergen prevention
- Nutritional adequacy on restricted diets
- Fussy eating, reflux, colic, and growth concerns
- All appointments are tailored to your child and include a detailed written report, so you feel confident moving forward.
If you’re feeling anxious, stuck, or unsure about your child’s diet or allergies, I’m here to help you move forward with clarity and confidence.

Training, qualifications & experience
I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and a member of the British Dietetic Association (BDA), including the BDA Food Allergy Specialist Group.
I currently work within the NHS as a Specialist Allergy Dietitian, and have previously worked across a range of local authorities, and healthcare organisations.
My experience includes supporting families with the diagnosis and management of food allergies (including cow’s milk protein allergy), guiding safe weaning, allergen introduction and reintroduction (via suitable ladders), and ensuring nutritional adequacy on restricted diets. I also provide support with common paediatric feeding concerns such as reflux, fussy eating, and growth.
Alongside clinical practice, I have contributed to wider nutrition and allergy services, including developing medical diet menus for schools and working with multidisciplinary teams to support children with complex dietary needs.
My approach is evidence-based, practical, and tailored to each family, combining clinical expertise with a strong understanding of the realities of feeding young children.
