About me

Hi there, my name is Annabel and I am an HCPC Registered Dietitian with a special interest in supporting those with chronic kidney disease and diabetes.

For many years, I have worked in leading teaching hospitals including Hammersmith Hospital, Charing Cross Hospital and the Royal Sussex County Hospital, alongside a private practice. My aim is to offer you clear explanations and practical guidance towards better health and quality of life.

As a specialist in kidney disease, I am here to help you understand what's going on in your body and how diet and lifestyle changes might help prevent further damage or deal with the side effects of the disease.  Perhaps you're feeling overwhelmed at the contradictory information you find online or wondering how your medications and dietary changes can work together. You'll find a handy Q and A on CKD below or head to my website where you'll find a blog all about that mysterious mineral 'potassium'.

Or, is it time to focus on your pre-diabetes or Type 2 Diabetes? Has anyone ever explained to you in clear terms just what this type of diabetes is? You might be surprised at what you can achieve and I'll be there to coach you through the changes.

If you have a Freestyle Libre, let's make the best use of all that wonderful information to fine tune your blood glucose control.

I would also be delighted to support you in optimising your diet and lifestyle to help you towards your longterm health goals. This might include reducing your risk of cardiovascular disease through good blood pressure and cholesterol management or smoothing the way through the menopause.

I am an Advanced Practitioner in Functional Imagery Training - What is that?  Well, it's an approach to helping people make lasting changes to their diet and lifestyle using imagery (and in fact all the senses). There is a lot of research to back it up. It is such a positive and empowering approach.  I'd be very happy to tell you more about.

I welcome any questions or concerns, so please do get in touch to arrange a complimentary chat or book a discovery call directly through my website at annabelalder.com.  I look forward to putting my experience into practice and supporting you with your current health concerns.
