The government intends the Olympic games of 2012 to be a way of improving health standards and tackling obesity, well the irony is that they will be offering huge amounts of junk food to supporters.
It has been announced that 3m of the 14m meals served during the two week 2012 Olympics will be prepared by sponsor McDonald’s. On top of this contradiction in terms, all soft drinks will be provided by Coca-Cola, whom also sponsor the International Olympic Committee and Cadbury’s £20m donation as a direct sponsor of the 2012 games also means their chocolate bars will be on sale.
McDonald’s have said they expect its outlets at the Olympic sites to sell the full range of food available in the high-street branches such as salads and porridge as well as big macs.
Coca-Cola have also said that they will provide a variety of drinks including still, sparkling, low and no sugar drinks.
