About me

I believe that the food we eat can have a profound effect on our health and well-being.

I work with both men and women of all ages, including children. My approach is both realistic and practical as I believe that everyone can use the science of nutrition to be as healthy as they can be.

Nutritional Therapy is about the whole person, so in all my consultations there is time to fully discuss every aspect of your health and well-being; to be listened to and heard in a private, caring, supportive environment. We will look at all aspects of your health, including your energy levels and your lifestyle, as well as your diet. Health is a combination of many systems in the body, and exploring how each factor contributes to your symptoms will enable us to work out an approach together that will benefit you and fit into your life.

Many of my clients already know a certain amount about nutrition and healthy eating; my approach is to help you work through the maze of information available and understand what is evidence-based and suitable for your personal situation, as well as to help you put those changes into place. Often, some aspects of making healthy changes to nutrition and lifestyle are in fact to do with emotions and feelings around food, so I use my coaching and counselling skills to help you make sustainable, healthy changes to your lifestyle.

I have always been interested in food and cooking, and I believe that food is to be enjoyed and appreciated by everyone in a balanced and healthy way. I believe in a realistic approach to healthy eating, making healthy changes that have a long term effect and fit into your lifestyle. Many of my clients have been surprised at how small changes can have a profound effect on their health, with their original symptoms improving alongside others that they had not considered. While diet and lifestyle is always the centre of any advice, supplements may be suggested alongside to support any changes, although these are always optional.

I first became interested in Nutritional Therapy when my children were young, as I wanted to help them develop into healthy strong individuals. I wanted to know how to provide them with the nutrients they needed through food they liked and enjoyed. When I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism several years ago, I wanted to have some control over my own health.

Please do not hesitate to call or email if you would like to find out more about my approach to nutritional therapy.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am fully insured, a member of the professional organisation BANT (British Association for Applied Nutrition and Nutritional Therapy), and am registered with the CNHC (Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council), which is supported by the Department of Health. I studied for four years at the University of Greenwich and the BCNH – the UK College of Nutrition and Health, to get my BSc Honours degree in Nutritional Health, achieving a distinction in the Clinical Diploma. BCNH sees Nutritional Therapy as complementary to orthodox health care and firmly rooted in scientific evidence and has an excellent reputation in this field.

My background in education allows me to draw on many years experience of working with people of all ages and from a range of backgrounds. I have an Advanced Diploma in Coaching, a diploma in Neuro Linguistic Programming, and have used and developed coaching and counselling skills throughout my career which I use in all my consultations. Since becoming a Registered Nutritional Therapist I have done further training in health coaching and I have had further training on the emotional and psychological aspects of our relationship with food. Many aspects of making healthy lifestyle changes are to do with the psychology of your approach to food.

Having worked at Senior Management level for several years, I also have the experience and skills to lead training workshops for your staff, and to develop and deliver bespoke training programmes for your organisation.

Since becoming a Nutritional Therapist I have worked with both men and women of all ages, including children. I have also delivered numerous workshops and training sessions to organisations ranging from Nursing Homes, Hospices and voluntary groups. Please see my website for a selection of reviews and comments from some of my clients.
