Pip Brayshaw MSc
The Hewson Clinic
4C Ringwood Road
As a Registered Nutritional Therapist I aim to seek out nutrient imbalances in the diets of my clients and help them to improve energy levels and general sense of wellbeing. I aim promote health through the use of diet.
Examples of people I work with are those wishing to achieve healthy gut function. Women who want to prepare their bodies for pregnancy or who need help to support their own nutrition during pregnancy, breast feeding and or recovery from giving birth. I also support people who want to loose weight without counting calories and who do not want to feel guilty about eating the odd slice of cake.
The service is tailored to you, if you have a rare health condition that you need help to support, even if I have never heard of it before, I will research the condition and look for evidence of how it can be supported through diet and nutrition. This would usually go along side any treatment being offered by your GP or other medical team as nutrition therapy is not a substitute for medical advice.
Training, qualifications & experience
In 2017 I completed an MSc in Nutritional Therapy at the University of Worcester. Previous to this I worked as a diagnostic radiographer for over 10 years which has given me a great insight into the workings of the human body and the effect of disease on peoples lives. I've been told 1000 times not to get old. I believe that a good diet can help people stay well for longer.

* If you have been diagnosed or suspect you may have one of the medical conditions starred above, you should consult your GP for advice, diagnosis and treatment and always inform your health professional before starting any alternative or additional therapies, treatments or making any major changes in your diet or exercise programme.
I recommend a minimum of 3 appointments over the course of 3 months. Any less than this will not allow us to see results. although some can, most nutritional changes do not happen over night.
Initial consultation -£85.
This reflects time of the consultation (up to 1 hour and a half) plus the time taken to analyse your food diary and research and develop a personalised nutritional therapy plan. Occasionally I will recommended the short term use of supplements but interactions with medications need to be checked which can also take some time. I may also offer testing such as stool testing to look for bacterial imbalance, yeast overgrowth or parasites that may be affecting your digestion and health. These will be discussed within the first or second consultation if I think they may be helpful.
Follow up consultations - £32
Follow up consultations are where the nutritional therapy plan is delivered bit by bit. Based on your current diet and health issues I will offer suggestions of how you can make changes. I may only offer one or two changes for you to make before the next appointment. If changes are easy to make then you are more likely to do them. Hopefully a new habit is established before making the next change. I work this way in the hope that you will not feel deprived or overwhelmed. Reviewing how previous changes have impacted your health will hopefully give you the motivation to make the next change.
The process is guided by you. I may see you every couple of weeks, once a month or every couple of months. I prefer to do initial consultations face to face (at the Hewson Clinic, Verwood). Follow ups can be done either in clinic or via skype or phone if it is easier for you.
