About me

Holistic Nutrition looks at how not only food could be affecting your health and wellness, but other things that may be happening in your life as well.

For instance stress can affect your blood sugar levels.  If you are dealing with stress along with symptoms of high blood sugar, the main focus would be on food but we would also look at ways to reduce - or strategies to cope - with stress.

Gut health is a key area of interest for me and digestion is an overlooked step in our busy lives.  There are many ways we can improve this, the most basic which you've probably heard many times is to chew your food well so that it needs less effort to breakdown in the stomach and beyond.  All the systems of the body are interlinked and problems with digestion can show in another - what you eat affects your mood, provides fuel for your brain, powers your muscles and can even influence your appetite via your hormones.  Autoimmune disorders can often be a reaction to a certain food.

My goal is simple - it is to help educate you so that you can make better food choices in your daily life.  When you know why you should avoid a certain food it makes it easier to avoid it.  Your personalised plan takes into account your food preferences, lifestyle and budget.  It has to be achievable so if you eat take-out 5 nights a week then we'd find alternatives that fit - for example you could make your own favourite curry where you control the ingredients and add more vegetables.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
You can call for an initial free chat and we'll discuss your issues and health goals.  If you proceed I will email some forms for you to complete, which will take about 45 minutes.  You send these back to me prior to the initial consultation.

The consultation will take 60 -90 minutes.  During this we'll go over in more detail the information you provided and within a week I'll send a personalised report outlining recommendations for you, including a sample 5 day meal plan and some recipes.  We'll stay in touch 1-2 times a week initially and a follow-up consultation is normally scheduled for about 4 weeks later to give you a chance to make the changes.

The easiest way to get in touch is by email or phone however, if you call and there's no answer please leave a short message so that I can call you back.
