About me

My Approach

As a mum of two teenagers I have over the years developed a passion for cooking. When I started studying nutrition, my cooking and eating habits changed and I enhanced my health and wellbeing as a result. I am keen to pass my knowledge and skills on to clients to enable them to start cooking more and eating fresh, whole food ingredients. Cooking enables you to be in control of what you eat. You know how much sugar, salt, nutrition (or not) is in your food. This leads to better health outcomes. I have many tips and recipes to help you put this into practice.

My approach is down to earth and I will work with you on where you are at. I listen to your needs and concerns. I am currently studying to be a wellbeing coach with the Chrysalis Effect as I believe asking the right questions and setting achievable goals can lead to better results. Nutrition, food and health are emotional topics and making changes in these areas can be challenging. My role is to help by giving you sensible nutritional advice and to find ways that make your goals achievable.

Who is it For

Anyone who has a desire to improve their health and wellbeing through diet and lifestyle. It is not for people who want a quick fix. It takes time to make changes and develop new habits. I often describe nutritional therapy as a journey, there are never straight lines however once you have started you don't go back, even if there are ups and downs along the way.

Getting Started

I offer a free 15 minute telephone consultation which is a good way to find out if nutritional therapy and my approach are right for you. Once we establish that it is we will agree on a date for the first consultation. You will fill in a health questionnaire and food diary before the appointment. Changing one habit at a time usually leads to long term success. Changing it all at once can be overwhelming.

My Specialities

I like to focus on food first. I have a wealth of knowledge on what foods to eat to optimise health and how to get the best out of food. Health starts in the gut, so I always look at gut health. Energy is also an area I am experienced in - I have hypothyroidism and therefore have an interest and in-depth knowledge in this area. Children and teens are one of my specialisms as well as women's health. I also have experience with conditions related to head pain.

Educating Kids

As well as seeing clients on a 1:1 basis I also present to schools on various nutrition topics. Once a year I educate 16 year olds pre exams on eating for brain health. I love doing this. The feedback from the children is both satisfying and informative. Hearing stories of children who attended the talks eating more avocado's is very rewarding.

My Hobbies

As well as being passionate about nutrition, health and wellbeing, I love spending time with my family, walking my dog Darcy, reading books, going to Italy, drinking green tea and eating dark chocolate. My 2018 goal was to see more concerts - my favourites have been George Ezra in the Usher Hall and the RSNO concert playing theme tunes from the movies.

Find out more go to my Facebook page and my blog also contains a good selection of recipes and articles on health and nutrition.
