My interest in diet and exercise started during my time studying Human Physiology at Sheffield University. I went on to work in nutrition research at the Medical Research Council in Cambridge but wanted to make more of a direct impact on people's lives. This lead me to complete my personal training qualifications, working as a trainer in London for several years, before going on to complete a Masters degree in Human and Performance Nutrition.
I have been working as a freelance nutritionist now for 8 years and am passionate about using the latest science to cut through all the diet and exercise myths and fads out there! At Insight Nutrition we use the latest technologies and evidence to design practical, sustainable and effective strategies to help our clients live longer and get more out of life. Whether you goal is to enhance performance at an elite level or just lose a few pounds to keep up with the kids we will work with you to develop an approach that fits with your lifestyle and effectively achieve results.
The first step is to get in touch, well arrange an informal meeting where we can talk about where you want to be and what we can offer to get you there. Typically our support includes the following:
Background session This lasts about 1hr30 minutes, we'll have a detailed chat about all things diet and exercise including any relevant medical, exercise and diet history. We include InBody Analysis, an accurate non-invasive way to measure body composition and metabolism. After the sessions we'll prepare a report that assesses your current health and gives our recommendations.
Tailored Meal Plan Typically we will design a 7-day meal plan that includes seasonal, colourful and tasty meals all normal stuff no supplements in sight. Thus includes a recipe pack that can been send to a mobile device or printed. The meal plan is coded to ensure all the vitamin and mineral boxes are ticked and that you are consuming the right amount of energy to achieve your goals. We can also change the 'fuel mix' to more effectively achieve muscle gain or body fat loss. No meal plans are not sustainable, so we start with a structure and will then work with you to develop a more flexible plan that you can keep going indefinitely.
Support In my experience regular catch ups get better results. We usually advise meeting every other week for 5 sessions. During this 10 week period we can develop and effective diet and exercise programme that you can keep going. Let us know whats working and what isn't and we'll work hard to make any changes needed. Hearing your feedback is important but we can also track changing body composition so you know exactly how you body is changing.
If you aren't able to make a face to face meeting we offer an effective remote support option. We'll send a questionnaire or arrange call to collect background information and all resources can be sent by email. Ongoing support is via email, Skype and phone.
Training Programmes and Personal Training I strongly believe that diet and exercise programmes that complement each other get the best possible results. We can talk about how much time you have to train, what equipment you have available and we'll design an enjoyable effective and progressive programme. Alternatively we also offer mobile personal training sessions within 15 miles of Saffron Walden. Training, qualifications & experience
During the past 8 years we have been lucky enough to work with a range of elite athletes including boxers, triathletes, golfers and motor-racing drivers. The exciting thing about nutrition for us is practically applying current science to achieve performance results in a range of sports all with very different requirements.
This type of approach has been equally effective when working with clients with health related goals. During the past 8 years we have helped over 400 individuals to achieve sustained weight loss, weight gain or to achieve optimal health for life!
We have worked on a number of community health projects in the local area working with groups to achieve sustained weight loss through diet and exercise. Additionally we have delivered a number of presentations and lectures on topics including performance nutrition for elite youth tennis players, practical nutrition strategies for motor racing drivers and nutrition for optimal performance at Anglia Ruskin University to name a few.

£80 Diet Analysis We analyse a 3 day weighed food diary giving you detailed feedback on all current nutritional intake, including vitamin and mineral intake versus recommended amounts and total energy intake. This will allow us to give informed advice on how to change your eating habits to achieve your goals.
