About me
Hello, my name is Mairi and I am a registered dietitian with 24 years experience. I have worked in several hospitals throughout the northwest and I have a broad range of experience which I use to help my private clients to achieve their nutritional and dietary goals.
I enjoy supporting people to have a greater understanding of nutrition and the role it plays in their health. I help people to make food choices that will help to manage their health condition or symptoms while fitting in with their lifestyle and having a diet that they can enjoy!
Consultations are available for the prevention or treatment of medical conditions such as
- Digestive conditions such as IBS, Crohns Disease, Colitis, Diverticular disease, constipation and diarrhoea
- Food allergies or intolerances
- Weight management- whether the goal is weight loss or gain
- Type 2 diabetes
- Heart health- high cholesterol, high triglycerides or high blood pressure
- Women's nutrition- PCOS, menopause, perimenopause, hormonal weight gain or skin conditions
- Pre and post natal nutrition
- Iron deficiency
- Immune problems, fatigue, long covid and chronic fatigue
I also work with people who may wish to ensure that their diet is healthy and balanced, especially those following diets such as vegetarian, vegan or who are unable or do not wish to consume certain foods or nutrients.
Face to face consultations take place in comfortable surroundings at Stanner Nutrition Clinic, or BMI Lancaster, however for those who have difficulty with time or travel, I offer telephone, online video or email consultations.
Training, qualifications & experience
I graduated from The Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen in 1998 with Bsc (Hons) in Nutrition and Dietetics and have been employed as a Registered Dietitian since then at several hospitals within the North West.
I have held specialist posts in Oncology, Surgery, Intensive Care, Neurosciences and Gastroenterology which have given me a broad range of experience in the treatment of complex and multiple medical issues.
I have been involved in the training of both student and qualified Dietitians as well as other qualified healthcare professionals and have lectured on both undergraduate and postgraduate Dietetic courses.
I have completed specialist training through King's College, London and Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, to provide the low FODMAP diet for IBS.
