About me

I am a Functional Nutritionist working to support people with their health through their life stages. As well as working with individuals, I run The Healthy Ageing Clinic.

In my work, I focus on the connection between our health and our lifestyle, diet and environment. This connection has long been recognised as determining our health and well-being.

I applies scientific knowledge and the tools of systems biology to assess how the client’s diet, lifestyle and environment may be affecting their health. My understanding of metabolic functions helps me work with the root causes of any diseases that they may have. This approach means that each client is given a unique personalised program for optimal health. The program included advice on diet and supplementation (where appropriate). I use my NLP coaching skills to support them achieve their goals and to make the lifestyle end environmental changes which are important for reaching these goals. This patient-centered model of health requires that the individual participates fully in managing their health.

Training, qualifications & experience

BSc(Hons) Nutritional Therapy, NLP Practitioner, BA (OU), CertEd (London), DIPSE (Computing)

After many years in the Computer Industry, dealing with the collection and manipulation of information, I believe that through all life-stages we are facing huge internal and external environmental changes with insufficient information about how these changes may affect our health either to maintain good health or access the right care if sick.

In my work as a Nutritional Therapist I concentrate on the internal environment of the body. I shape my approach on the basis that all chronic diseases are the result of some imbalance created by the interaction of our internal environment with the lifestyle, diet and external environment which we choose for ourselves and as such the modification of these three factors alone may bring great health and well being benefits.

As a Nutritional Therapist, by gathering evidence and applying scientific knowledge on behalf of my client, I aim to assess and test for any underlying imbalances and build a comprehensive personalised profile - a most valuable information picture about their individual health stressors - antecedents, triggers and mediators that may drive their poor or good health.

I was drawn to study Nutritional Science and its application in therapy first by receiving positive results as a Nutritional Therapy client in the late 1990s which lead me to ask many questions which only further study has been able to answer. Secondly as my understanding of my own health and ability to control outcomes increased, I realised that the general media is working against this potential with  incomplete and too general health scares as well as offering mysteriously helpful 'tips' that ignored the many differences between people experiencing a diseases. In my work I hope to provide a balance to this drive which ultimately is dis-empowering and have chosen Nutritional Therapy which enables me to place the individual approach at the heart of my work.
