Training, qualifications & experience
I am HCPC registered UK dietitian who graduated from Plymouth University in August 2021. I have been working for the NHS and freelance since then and supporting people with binge eating disorder with my freelance work.
During my time a student I have had placement experience working in eating disorder clinics and supporting talks for people with various eating disorders and this has helped me gain more passion and understanding for people struggling with binge eating disorder - one of the most common eating disorder.
Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 14 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.

When I work
It is not an issue of 'Willpower'
You may have heard that the secret to overcoming binge eating is 'willpower'. You could never binge again if you just tried more, worked smarter, and genuinely stuck to your guns more. You could resist the impulse to binge for a long time, and if you did so long enough, you wouldn’t binge again.
But that isn’t how it works in reality. Your connection with food is the way it is for a reason – binge eating didn’t just appear out of nowhere; I’m guessing you have a few reasons why you think you have a binge eating problem… Binge eating is a part of your life for a reason; it won’t go away just because you try harder or have greater willpower.
Dietitians are trained to provide dietary advice that is specific to each person’s needs. A dietitian can assist you in developing an interest in the nutritional worth of specific foods. They’ll show you how taking the time to plan, cook, and understand your meals may help you control your binge eating. A consultation with a dietitian is generally more effective than attempting to solve the problem on your own. As a binge eater, you already know how tough it is to resist unhealthy meals, especially when you are caught off guard in stressful situations.
A Dietitian will create a personalised plan to gently wean you off your old behaviours. Let us get started!
