About me

Nutritional Therapy is a strategy for health, encompassing the belief that "our food is our medicine and our medicine is our food". Following a detailed analysis of dietary and nutritional intake, plus a detailed health and family case history, nutritional therapy can link symptoms being experienced to nutritional imbalances. Following a consultation, a personalised programme for diet and lifestyle changes can then be advised in order to promote optimal health.

The Nutritional Therapy Consultation Procedure...

Preparation Nutritional Therapy treats each patient as an individual, addressing YOUR concerns, YOUR priorities and YOUR commitment to the development of our programme. After our initial contact, a questionnaire will be forwarded to you for completion. This will highlight your health concerns; tell me about your lifestyle, medications you may be taking and medical history. This will reduce the time spent in our consultation having to record all this information – which is imperative to the devising of the programme.

A food diary will also need to be completed. This records your food intake for five days. Although laborious this is critical to ascertaining foods that may be precursors to the symptoms/complaints that you are experiencing - again reducing the time allocated during our consultation to this task.

The Consultation Itself…(£90) lasting an hour and a half, this is where we discuss your health concerns. We look at past medical conditions, family medical history, previous dietary habits, administered medication, lifestyle factors and sleep patterns. All this information will bear a resemblance on your current health concerns… then we look at how we can address them.

A Dietary Programme... A dietary programme is then devised for you to adhere to, to improve the way you eat. This will highlight foods to be increased and foods to be reduced – to potentially impact positively on your health concerns. Each food group will be looked at, so you will have a complete breakdown of the foods to incorporate into your daily meals; breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks.

Depending on the complexities of your health concerns, the dietary programme may be available after the consultation, or sent to you a few days later. This enables research and confirmation of the dietary proposals made.

Supplements... A Nutritional Supplement is a preparation intended to provide nutrients, such as vitamins, minerals, fiber, fatty acids or amino acids, that are missing or are not consumed in sufficient quantity in a person's diet. Supplements are sometimes recommended. Again, a supplement prescription may be available on the day or forwarded to you. This is due to research into contraindications – ensuring that no supplement recommended will interfere with any medication currently being taken.

If the programme is not available on the day, a meeting or telephone conversation will take place to discuss the programme in depth and to elevate any queries. Telephone or email support can be ongoing throughout the initiation of the programme

Follow-up Consultation … (£55) This is a generally shorter procedure where we assess the progress of the treatment programme, ensure it is working effectively and make adjustments where needed.

Functional Tests are available.

Below are some testimonials that previous clients have been kind enough to write ...

I approached Jackie because I have Rosacea and had read that diet can contribute quite a bit to the condition, which had been deteriorating for some months. Following an initial phone chat, Jackie analysed a food diary that I completed for her and then provided me with a very comprehensive consultation that left no stone unturned.

With a knowledgeable and flexible approach, Jackie helped me to plan a perfectly practical way forward, changing some bad habits along the way. After a couple of weeks I started to see improvements to my skin and I am continuing with Jackie’s recommendations in the hopes that I have found some of the roots to my problem at long last. I would definitely recommend Jackie to anyone looking for bespoke nutritional advice – she is worth every penny!
                                                                                  (Anna, Martley, Worcestershire)

I found Jackie very easy to talk to, which might be the most important aspect of a first session with any therapist. She was totally non-judgemental as I revealed the idiosyncrasies of my diet. She is also knowledgeable, thorough and a good communicator. A long-term health condition meant that I had to address my lifestyle and Jackie has helped me enormously. I feel good just thinking about how much better I am going to be looking after myself.
                                                                     (Naomi, Kidderminster, Worcestershire)

I would like to thank Jackie for her recommendations, guidance and excellent advice. The consultation identified strengths and weaknesses within my diet and provided a platform from which to build and implement a nutritional plan that allowed me to move forward addressing my health and social needs. The nutritional advise and awareness allows me to be flexible in my food selection and enjoy the process (which is 90% of the battle) in promoting good health. My passion is to undertake and compete in endurance events and this process has supported this enhancing my overall general well being and performance. The advantage of having “a go to person” for post consultation guidance and recommendation is an appreciated added bonus. The information provided by Jackie is always of the highest standard.(Christopher, Halesowen (West Midlands))

" Jackie's advice was well researched and thoughtful and has supported me in my decision to try and reduce the possibility of a recurrence of health problems. I believe the importance of good nutrition is underestimated - Jackie is working to help people understand this for themselves. She is an approachable and knowledgeable guide. " (Anne, Malvern)

"Thank you Jackie for being so easy to talk to and knowledgeable; having followed your advice the bloating and cramps disappeared. I have recommended you to my friend"  (Marie, Worcester)

"I was referred to Jackie Donkin by a fellow therapist . The advice received was well researched and given in an interesting and easily understandable way . This was backed up by well laid out notes to help me follow the regime recommended  . I had no problems following  the nutritional program which has led to my recovery and a feeling of well being. In short it is good Nutrition made easy .  I commend Jackie Donkin" (John, Worcester)
