About me

Nutritional Therapy and Functional Medicine; Oxygen Advantage® certified instructor; Heartmath® certified coach

Hello, I’m Helen Maxwell,

I love to help people master their health with nutrition, breathing and heart rate variability training.   I specialise in digestion and heart health but work with clients with all kinds of issues such as weight loss, weight gain, respiratory conditions, metabolic issues, blood sugar complications and hormones.

I retrained in nutrition after a career in finance and marketing after having my children.  I visited numerous doctors, urologists and alterantive health specialists to resolve my sons itching without success.  I then visited a nutritional therapist and he was better within a month.  Never one to do things by halves I put the whole family on the same food and began my journey into the power of food to generate health.  Along the way I have learnt many other therapeutic interventions, stress management techniques and health promoting tools which I love to share with my clients.

I have a deep understanding and belief in the body's ability to heal given the right conditions.  I also understand what it takes to make those changes to the way we eat and that it's not always easy when life is stressful and busy.  But it's often a few little tweaks here and there plus some personalised attention to diet that can make all the difference.  When you combine changes in your nutrition with simple but powerful breathing exercises you amplify and speed up your results. Correct breathing stimulates your vagus nerve, resets your autonomic nervous system, helps with sleep and promotes digestion and absorption. It can often resolve acid reflux within a very short space of time.  It’s fascinating that something so simple and taken for granted can often be the missing-link to improving your physiology.

So do get in touch if you are:

Worried about your physical or mental health but not sure where to start with healthy eating, nutrition and a balanced diet?

Struggling with weight-management but diets don’t work anymore and weight loss or weight gain is becoming stressful?

Experiencing problems with digestion, bloating and discomfort after eating?

Worried and confused about cholesterol levels, heart health or desperate to feel less tried and lethargic?

Do you want to improve your ability to flex-fuel for endurance sports or train harder by fine-tuning your nutrient intake and timing with sports nutrition?

There is so much in the media at the moment from keto to vegan and Atkins to calories it’s easy to drown in bewilderment. I have found that nutrition is actually very specific to the individual and what suits one person may not suit another’s physiology or lifestyle.

I am trained in the Functional Medicine Model to track symptoms back to their root cause. This helps to identify which of the body’s systems are out of balance. We can then address them very specifically with a personalised road map back to healthy eating and enjoying your food.

If you would like some help with any of these services please get in touch by phone, email or via my website for a free discovery call. I wold love to chat to you and discover what’s challenging you right now and how I mght be able to help you.
