Haidee Harvey-Brown DipION
23-25 St. Augustines Parade
Hey I'm Haidee, a qualified and registered nutritional therapist on a mission to educate and empower others on how to lead a healthier happier life through the application of nutritional science and delicious nutritious foods.
I am fascinated with food; their nutrients, their taste, how they affect our bodies, & the power they have to change & improve our health. I believe we all have a responsibility to look after ourselves and provide our body with the nutrition it needs. Helping you realize your own individual needs, discover what works for you and makes you feel at your best is my goal!
Nutritional Therapy - As a NT practitioner I know the importance of an individualized approach. I support health concerns and tackle symptoms by getting to the root cause. Knowing which body systems are affected and understanding how to restore balance is key to optimal health. I aim to provide you with the tools needed to better your health & improve your quality of life.
What to expect - Before meeting I will ask for an in depth questionnaire to be completed and sent back to me so that I can put time into fully understanding your case and carrying out further necessary research. We will go over this information during a consultation, diving into you own and your families health history, your symptoms and/or condition, and your current diet and lifestyle habits. Keeping track of symptoms with notes on how you are feeling will also be an integral part so that you can see how you are progressing week to week and month to month. Educating you on the link between dietary and lifestyle choices and symptoms, as well as providing an understanding on what is going on in their body, is something I believe to be hugely important for you. Understanding the reason behind the next steps to take will motivate you to form healthy habits and stay on track, therefore I will never make suggestions without an explanation of why and how it will benefit you!
Sports Nutrition - Whether wanting to increase strength and power, endurance, or body composition, knowing and fulfilling nutritional needs is essential for fueling each training session and ensuring you are able to recover properly. Extra demand and stress on the body means extra nutritional care to keep up energy, support immune function and promote joint, bone & muscle health. This is a big area of interest for me after taking up weightlifting a few years ago, but feeling frustrated at the poor quality sports nutrition advice on offer. I can advise you on the types of nutrients and foods, the amounts, and timings specific to you and your training goals across a variety of sports and events to take performance to the next level.
Continuous support - If you choose to work with me I always offer continued weekly support between sessions to help keep you on track and allow you the chance to ask questions or voice concerns through phone, Skype or email.
Online consultations & home visits - The consultations are also available online for those who live outside the Bristol area or those who have busy lifestyles and feel that this approach would suit them best. Alternatively I offer home visits to those who live in Bristol if you would like the benefit of a face to face consultation but are unable to travel.
Training, qualifications & experience
After completing a degree in Educational Studies and Psychology I made the decision to change directions. Years of personal research and educating myself on the importance and incredible healing abilities of good nutrition, as well as working within health food shops and seeing the beneficial life changes people were able to make through diet, lifestyle, and supplements grew my passion to the point where I had to learn more about the WHY behind it and how to help others with this approach.
I went back to learn the sciences (Chemistry, Biology, Anatomy & Physiology) before completing a 3 year diploma in Nutritional Therapy at ION (Institute of Optimum Nutrition).
Since then I have supported individuals in healing their body and regaining good health, as well as feeling and performing at their best. I have also created healthy recipes and tailored meal plans for a variety of health food venues along with healthy eating workshops. Because of this I am never short on ideas or recipes for making dietary lifestyle changes easier and more sustainable.
I continue to expand my knowledge on a wide range of areas to stay up to date with the latest scientific studies to better inform my practice and give clients the best possible information and guidance.
