Emily Leeming - Registered Dietitian BSc MSc (PhD in progress)
"Emily is a joy to work with. She is encouraging, supportive, understanding and her approach incorporates the connections between diet, mental and physical health."
I offer online one-to-one coaching via video link (no more time wasted travelling to and from a clinic, and waiting for your appointment!). I do not offer face-to-face sessions. As a dietitian, I have five years of university training in nutrition with a BSc and Masters degree and am currently undertaking a PhD in nutrition (gut microbiome research).
I help you build a happier relationship with food so that you can move on with your life using a mind-body-soul approach.
I work with clients from Non-Diet Approach, Health At Every Size and Intuitive Eating principles.
I see clients who have:
disordered eating i.e. emotional eating, feeling out of control, restricting/cutting out foods
poor body image
Gut health (IBS, Celiac’s disease, IBD, gut microbiome)
No More Food Rules
I work from a non-diet approach within the Health At Every Size® paradigm, so no calorie counting here. Weight isn’t on my radar, but health is. When did you last move for joy, not exercised for punishment? Trusted your body to tell you what it needs? Or ate a delicious meal to full satisfaction without a backlash of guilt? I help you to drop those ingrained food rules that stand in the way of honest, joyful eating for better health and a fuller life. Think what you can achieve, do, thrive.
Do you suffer from constipation or diarrhoea? Have you been diagnosed with IBS, inflammatory bowel disease (CD or UC) or Coeliac's disease? I can help you take charge of your symptom management to improve your day-to-day quality of life. I support you as your go-to source of credible advice taking out the stress and worry of coping on your own.
"Emily was highly recommended to me by a friend and I am so glad that I chose to work with her! I have worked with a nutritionist before and having previously tried to research information online I found there was so much contradictory advice. The fact that Emily is a dietitian and understands the science was important to me. Emily is a joy to work with. She is encouraging, supportive, understanding and her approach incorporates the connections between diet, mental and physical health. After each session, she sends a concise summary of what we covered and personalised action plans that give me clear goals for our next session. I am very happy to recommend Emily to anyone who is looking to better their health and make changes to their diet."
"'I am a 28 year old female who was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis six months ago which, as my job involves constantly travelling, has proven quite difficult to manage. I felt quite overwhelmed by all the different advice and theories on the internet about the relationship between diet and Ulcerative Colitis, so when a friend recommended that I speak to Emily I jumped at the chance to get some advice from a trained dietician. I have had two consultations with Emily now, once when experiencing quite severe symptoms and once when in remission, and both have been invaluable in terms of cutting through all the misinformation and different ideas that surround IBD and diet, and also through offering solid, easy to follow advice about diet, supplements and lifestyle in general. Emily is very friendly, approachable, knowledgable and organised, and through her contacts was even able to put me in contact with other healthcare professionals to help with other aspects of my illness. I would recommend her to anybody suffering from an IBD, whether they are looking to achieve or maintain remission."
Training, qualifications & experience
A dietitian is the only protected nutrition profession where you have to have completed a minimum of four years full-time university study in nutrition and dietetics. So slightly like being a doctor or a lawyer, not any old Mr or Mrs Jones can call themselves one. Dietitians work from an evidence-based, straight-as-we-come approach, and are considered the nutrition experts in prevention as well as disease management. I have five years of university training in nutrition with a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and a Master’s Degree in Dietetics. I am currently taking a PhD looking at the effect of long and short term food choices on the gut microbiota at Kings College London.
Doctor of Philosophy from King’s College London (Current 2019-2022)
