About me

Hello, I'm Carla. It never ceases to amaze me after 30+ years in practice how quickly people respond to Nutrition and Naturopathy...

  • A good diet can override negative genetic tendencies, and you can find the right diet that will support you for the rest of your life.

  • Personalised medicine looks at the individual, it is fundamentally safe and effective as it looks at the root cause of health problems.

  • What you eat changes your biology; your hormones, your microflora, your energy.  At last medics and the general public are becoming more and more aware of the importance of what we are eating & drinking.

I have helped my clients with a variety of issues including those who cannot tolerate certain foods or possibly prescribed drugs, or people who want to know how to achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle by changing diet, getting more exercise, improving sleep patterns or relieving stress.

My aim when working with you, is to teach you how to adopt a healthy diet and nurture your individual health-promoting lifestyle. I do this by sharing nutritional and naturopathic strategies that allow you to reclaim control of your health - these strategies can also work in tandem with orthodox medical interventions.

There is too much misinformation in the media confusing people!

Therefore, the first thing I address with most people is digestion. If you don't digest well you don't absorb from your food, and it can cause much pain and discomfort. If you have tummy troubles it is best not to ignore it or learn to live with it. How would it feel not to have tummy symptoms?

I educate and inspire, to unlock the self-healing capabilities of the human body, removing obstacles to healing. Our level of wellness is related to how we live - by choice or otherwise - and by our environment and our attitudes.

Small, low-impact and affordable changes to lifestyle can make a big difference to our health. Essentially the human organism wants to be well. I help my clients unlock the self healing capabilities of the body.

Nutritional Therapy  consists of using diet, specific foods and possibly supplements to improve our health. Our bodies are built from, fuelled by and repaired by food so what we eat affects every cell and body system. Good nutrition helps to regulate the body and has a huge impact on how well we feel, how we age and how we cope with today’s common health problems and chronic illnesses.

Naturopathy  is a revival of holistic medical practice in which the well being of the patient is encouraged through a range of natural medical interventions including first and foremost diet, but also including medicinal herbs, hydrotherapy, homeopathy and body work. Naturopathy follows similar precepts to nutritional therapy but can take the healing process further.

I am happy to offer a 15 minute phone consultation answering your questions. So, if you would like to find out more about how I can help you, please get in touch.

Training, qualifications & experience

I studied nutrition at The Institute of Optimum Nutrition, with further post-graduate study at The London College of Naturopathy was the natural progression. For over thirty plus years, I have offered a Nutritional and Naturopathic consultation practice, and one that has taken me all over the globe.

  • Fully insured.
  • Member of the Fellowship of Integrated Holistic Therapists (FHIT)
  • Member of the British Complementary Medicine Association (BCMA)

Alongside my one-to-one practice, I have worked in a number of teams and clinics, most notably for 10 years I worked as a Technical Consultant in the Clinical Nutrition Team at the nutritional supplement specialists Biocare, helping practitioners and members of the public.

I did clinical research, presentations, wrote and referenced material on health issues and scientific evaluations on specific illnesses. I have worked with local radio and TV on health questions in the news, and I've completed a course with the American Institute of Integrated Oncology (18 modules and continuing monthly lectures) and I'm interested in helping people post cancer treatment.

Additionally, I spent two years as a nutritional consultant & naturopath at the COMO Shambhala Retreat in Bali which has a multi-award-winning, programme offering a wonderful range of holistic, Asian-inspired therapies as well as Ayurveda, Yoga and Tai Chi.  I also worked at the Como wellness centre in Parrot Cay, part of the Turks & Caicos archipelago, southeast of the Bahamas.

As a child I was fascinated with edible plants and herbs, especially those used in the kitchen for cooking. Later, as a young mother, I was positive that a good diet for my growing children would give the best results, a belief inspired by my interest in the relationship between food, health & wellness.  When a chronic illness emerged in the family, I felt compelled to take this interest further and study nutrition at Patrick Holford’s Institute of Optimum Nutrition. Further post-graduate study at The London College of Naturopathy was the natural progression.

You can contact the nutritionist to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
