It never ceases to amaze me after 30 years in practice, how quickly people respond to Nutrition and Naturopathy.
What you eat ( nutrients ) changes your biology. Medics and the general public are becoming more and more aware of the importance of what we are eating & drinking. A good diet can override genetic tendencies.I look at the root cause of health problems. Personalised medicine is fundamentally safe and effective.
I have a passion for helping people to understand and achieve good health, there is too much misinformation in the media confusing people. The first thing I address with most people is digestion. If you don't digest well you don't absorb from your food, and it can cause much pain and discomfort. If you have tummy troubles it is best not to ignore it or learn to live with it. How would it feel not to have tummy symptoms?
My aim, when working with you, is to teach you how to adopt a healthy diet & nurture your own individual health-promoting lifestyle. I do this by sharing nutritional and naturopathic strategies that allow the individual to reclaim control of their health. These strategies can also work in tandem with orthodox medical interventions.
I have helped my clients with a variety of issues including those who cannot tolerate prescribed drugs, and with people who want to know how to achieve & maintain a healthy lifestyle. I educate and inspire, to unlock the self-healing capabilities of the human body, removing obstacles to healing. Our level of wellness is related to how we live - by choice or otherwise - and by our environment and our attitudes. Small, low-impact and affordable changes to lifestyle can make a big difference to our health. Essentially the human organism wants to be well. I help my clients unlock the self healing capabilities of the body.
I am happy to offer you a 15 minute phone consultation answering your questions. So, if you would like to find out more about how I can help you, please get in touch.
Nutritional Therapy consists of using diet, specific foods and possibly supplements to improve our health. Our bodies are built from, fueled by and repaired by food so what we eat affects every cell and body system. Good nutrition helps to regulate the body and has a huge impact on how well we feel, how we age and how we cope with today’s common health problems and chronic illnesses.
Naturopathy is a revival of holistic medical practice in which the well being of the patient is encouraged through a range of natural medical interventions including first and foremost diet, but also including medicinal herbs, hydrotherapy, homeopathy and body work. Naturopathy follows similar precepts to nutritional therapy but can take the healing process further.
For 10 years until recently, I worked in a clinical nutrition team at a well known supplement company helping practitioners and members of the public. I also did clinical research, presentations, and wrote and referenced material on health issues, scientific evaluations on specific illnesses. I also have worked with local radio about health questions in the news.
As a child I was fascinated with edible plants and herbs, especially those used in the kitchen for cooking. Later, as a young mother, I was positive that a good diet for my growing children would give the best results, a belief inspired by my interest in the relationship between nutrition and health & wellness. When a chronic illness emerged in the family, I felt compelled to take this interest further and study nutrition at Patrick Holford’s Institute of Optimum Nutrition. Further post-graduate study at The London College of Naturopathy was the natural progression.
Since then - and for over thirty years - I have offered a nutritional & naturopathic consultation practice that has taken me all over the globe. Alongside my one-to-one practice, I have worked in a number of teams and clinics, most notably for 10 years as a Technical Consultant on the Clinical Nutrition Team at the nutritional supplement specialists Biocare.
I spent two years as a nutritional consultant & naturopath at the COMO Shambhala Retreat in Bali which has a multi-award-winning, programme offering a wonderful range of holistic, Asian-inspired therapies as well as Ayeurveda, yoga and Tai Chi. I also worked at the Como wellness centre in Parrot Cay, part of the Turks & Caicos archipelago, southeast of the Bahamas.
