Hey, I'm Andrea!
I create personalised health and weight loss programs with customised meal plans to match based on an individuals health goals, budget, and lifestyle.
My goal is to meet you where you at by addressing the cause with a personalised roadmap, that is unique to you!
Sometimes a simple food intolerance test is enough to help someone lose weight by removing their trigger foods and healing their gut. For others a metabolic lab test helps identify nutritional deficiencies that can be addressed with a customised meal plan.
If you want to lose weight, gain consistent energy, sleep more soundly, address food intolerances, or have better digestion then I'd love to talk with you to see how we can work together to make it happen!
My Philosophy of Care - Eat Real Food
As a child I watched my brother suffer terribly with food intolerances that noticeably affected his behaviour and his health. This resulted in growing up in a very food conscious household where everything was cooked from scratch and we rarely ate out. This made me acutely aware of the affects of food which either gives us energy or takes energy away.
When it comes to food allergies, making a diagnosis is pretty black and white. The typical allergic reaction occurs immediately after you ingest a certain food, and the symptoms—often a rash, hives, or swelling—are unmistakable.
But food sensitivities are a much sneakier sort. In many cases, symptoms don’t occur until several hours or even days after you eat a problematic food, and even then, they can be vague and difficult to link to your diet.
Food sensitivities have become an epidemic, largely fuelled by the process of genetically modifying food. Gluten, dairy, corn and soy are among the most common culprits. But what about lectins, the natural proteins found in plants - these were "my problem" what about yours?
Some signs you might have a food sensitivity, along with a brief explanation of how each symptom occurs.
Weight gain or inability to lose weight
You’ve tried every diet out there, but nothing seems to work for you. You’re constantly hungry, no matter how much you eat.
When you suffer from a food sensitivity, it causes chronic inflammation, which impairs your brain’s ability to communicate with hormones, One of these hormones is leptin, which is released after you eat so that you feel satisfied. Without the brain receiving messages from leptin, you continue to feel hungry even after a big meal.
No matter how much sleep you get, you are exhausted. You find yourself dozing off during the day and are constantly grabbing sugary and starchy snacks for energy.
When your body is sensitive to a certain food, it causes an inflammatory response in your digestive system, causing your adrenal glands to release cortisol as an anti-inflammatory. This puts extra stress on your adrenal glands and leaves you feeling fatigued.
What You Can Expect On Your First Visit:
I work with clients using the following approach:
Listen: First I conduct a thorough assessment of your current situation. I provide a comprehensive health questionnaire to get a clear understanding of your health goals, concerns, and lifestyle.
Gather: I then analyse your results, health history, diet, lifestyle and lab results to identify any nutritional gaps or causes that may exist and create a program that addresses the cause rather than the symptoms.
Create: Based on my findings I create a personal program that aims to meet your health goals, budget and lifestyle, in the shortest possible time. In addition, I coach you from a holistic perspective so that you can take an empowered and active role in your wellbeing journey.
Partnership: I work with you over time through regular meetings to help you track, monitor and adjust your program as you continuously move towards meeting your goals.
I know what it’s like to be frustrated when you think you are doing everything right; I also know what it’s like to work with large groups of people with the same goal each requiring a different roadmap.
My job is to join the dots and remove the blocks one step at a time that have been preventing you from looking and feeling your best.
It starts with a conversation, are you ready?
