Hannah: Learning how to care for myself

After having my children I felt I needed some advice on how to care for myself and my post-pregnancy body. I was also struggling with brain fog and abdominal cramps that were making life feel stressful and sometimes I felt really low.

I found Nutritionist Resource and immediately knew I wanted to see a nutritionist. I found a lady close to my house that stood out to me and I went to see her at the beginning of this year. She was really professional and helped me understand why my body was feeling sluggish and tired and how food can be directly linked to how you're feeling day to day.

We also did some food intolerance tests and some further tests for Candida and parasites. It turned out I did have a Candida overgrowth and she set up a plan for me with supplements to help get this under control. This mainly involved cutting out sugar and processed foods, I followed her recommendations and within a few months lots of the symptoms were much better. I only saw her once every 2 weeks but she kept in touch by email and was always happy to answer my questions.

I feel I learnt a lot from my time with her and I'm grateful that I can now live a much healthier way of life. I find that if I do eat too many carbs or processed foods, I instantly feel the effects in my body and therefore know it is in my best interests to eat as well as I can. I also notice that stress affects my body and eating habits massively so I work hard to limit stress that is within my control.

I feel I learnt a lot from my time with her and I'm grateful that I can now live a much healthier way of life.

I made the decision to become a vegetarian while I was changing my lifestyle and she was able to help me think about my protein intake and advise on additional supplements for optimum support.
