The festive period is an intense time – whether you're having fun or feeling it's all too much: physically or emotionally. 

We commonly see clients struggle during this time of year: struggle with the exhaustion of caring and catering for others; struggle socially with all the parties and equally with loneliness; struggle with perfectionism; struggle to manage their own unhelpful food, exercise and lifestyle rules alongside all the festivities and so on.

These struggles show up in a host of ways...

  • Do you find yourself reverting to old, unhelpful thought patterns and behaviour when you return to your family home – no matter your age?
  • Do you find the difference in food, rest and work over Christmas hard to sit with?
  • Do you feel overwhelmed by the encouragement to “overindulge” and not follow through with your body’s needs?
  • Do you feel panicky about the predictability or unpredictability of festive eating or alcohol consumption?
  • Do you worry that festive eating is “chaotic” and you get hungry when others are not?
  • Do you feel angry that you can't do your normal routine, or if you do then others get upset and/or comment?
  • Do you tend to get poorly during the festive break?
  • Do you over-exercise before or after the Christmas period as a way to compensate for some of the above?
  • Do you diet in January and/or engage in diet culture-based social media?
