Gluten and wheat-free dieters can celebrate with chocolate fingers this Christmas thanks to Sainsbury’s

Sainsbury’s announces it will be adding breadsticks and chocolate fingers to its wheat and gluten free range of confectionary this winter.

Although it’s still only the end of summer, supermarkets are already stocking mince pies and dedicating whole isles to blow up reindeer in preparation for December 25th. It seems the season of gluten and all things indulgent will soon be upon us.

For people with coeliac’s disease and other nasty food intolerances, it can be difficult to dodge the main culprits during the months and weeks leading up to Christmas.

DS-Free is the leading ‘free from’ brand in the UK and it is about to launch two new gluten-free winter-favourites to join the breads, sweet breakfast rolls, crackers and biscuits already on offer at Sainsbury’s.

“Customers can sometimes find it hard to buy quick snacks suitable for coeliacs, so we’re really pleased to be able to offer even more choice,” said Michelle Shinn, Retail Brand Manager for DS-gluten free and TRUfree.

There is a big market for ‘free from’ food products at the moment and more and more alternatives are continuing to launch. This is good news for people with certain digestive disorders and food intolerances, who now find they are able to reintroduce the foods they enjoy and not suffer the painful side effects.

Leading ‘free from’ brands DS-Free and TRUfree are both owned by Dr Schär and aim to be the leading food specialist for specific nutritional requirements in America and Europe.

If you suffer from a food intolerance and would like nutritional advice, guidance and plans, then you may wish to speak with a qualified nutritionist. You can find a nutritionist near you by visiting the Nutritionist Resource.
