‘Beet’ high blood pressure

A study recently published in the the journal of, American Heart Association’s Hypertension has highlighted how drinking beetroot juice could help to lower blood pressure quickly and effectively.

Scientists from Queen Mary University of London have found that drinking the juice actually worked at lowering blood pressure in as little as 24 hours, making it a viable preventative measure for cardiovascular issues.

The British scientists even found it equally as effective as nitrate tablets in treating hypertension and here is why: According to the experts, the organic form of nitrate which is a component of beetroot juice is the key ingredient for reducing blood pressure. The researcher’s have found that nitrate was was the cause of the beneficial effects as beetroot nitrate had high levels of the gas nitric oxide in circulation. Nitric oxide is a messenger in the body which sends out signals which will smooth muscle tissues, increase blood flow and lower blood pressure.

This is great news for anyone trying to reduce their blood pressure using a natural remedy
