Boost your Meatless Monday

Rumours that cutting back on meat is good for the planet as well as your health are spreading. While imagining a meal without meat might be difficult, there are so many recipes out there that you can get creative!

Plant-based eating is growing ever popular and while it may be a big ask for you meat-lovers out there, try cutting it out once a week. It is said that having one meat-free day a week can lower your risk of developing conditions such as heart disease, diabetes and obesity.

If you’re inspired to take the challenge, take a look at our favourite tips to boost the meatless Monday dinner.

Get nutty

Adding nuts or seeds to salads can make them much more satisfying and more nutritious. Why not try adding toasted walnuts to a blue cheese salad or toasted pine nuts with spinach?

Get season savvy

This is your chance to experiment with seasonal ingredients. If you like a crunch in your salads, slice up some radishes. Alternatively, shave some courgette ribbons and serve with crumbled Parmesan and olive oil. To add an extra boost of flavour and bite, throw in some wedges of grapefruit or orange!

Get cheesy

Don’t push your cheese cravings aside; use them as a dressing! Crumble feta or goat’s cheese with a few tablespoons of olive oil, or if you like the strong stuff, crumble a dash of stilton on top.

Get miso-mad

Adding a teaspoon of miso paste to sauces, stir-fry or soups can add a host of flavours. Stock your cupboard with fresh chillies, ginger, garlic and lemongrass, mix them with the miso paste and add them to salads, noodles and wraps.

Get smoky

Be brave and experiment with a selection of spices, trust us you won’t regret it! They are a great addition to any recipe, whether you want a kick of heat or a rich smoky flavour, spices can add the extra boost of flavour you need to impress your friends.
