Dietary and lifestyle choices impact hugely on our health. So it is important to be clever making these choices. Whether supporting a specific health condition, a desire to lose weight or simply to optimise health, I can advise on how to better make these choices. With a particular interest in healthy ageing, I have been presenting healthy ageing workshops in the South Wales region. As longevity increases, it is now more important than ever to make dietary and lifestyle choices to ensure these years are lived out to the full.
Along with workshops and cooking parties, I offer nutrition courses for various public and private agencies. These are tailored to the individual institution and their budgets.
I am currently not taking on new clients for 1-to-1 consultations.
One-to-one consultations are offered at the Natural Health Clinic Cardiff. Prior to the initial meeting, a questionnaire will be sent out with a 3-day food diary to be completed and returned. Some preparatory work can then be done in advance of the first consultation.
Typically the initial consultation last 60 to 90 minutes. During this time, the following topics provide the core of the consultation:
- current health concerns
- diagnosis and treatment
- medical history
- family history
- levels of physical activity
- use of medication and supplements
Once we have established what you would like to achieve, contributing factors such as lifestyle practices, nutritional imbalances, environmental and genetic interactions are discussed. A personalised programme will then be put together which may include dietary adjustments, lifestyle changes, and supplement recommendations. Further diagnostic testing either via your GP or a private lab may form part of the recommendations. Tests conducted via private labs will incur an additional cost.
Follow-up consultations are generally made for 4-6 weeks later and last about 45 minutes to monitor progress, adjust the programme and/or discuss any lab results if carried out. Depending on your progress, further consultations may be arranged.
Training, qualifications & experience
Registered Nutritional Therapist
NTDC Diploma, The Institute for Optimum Nutrition
I studied for three years at the Institute for Optimum Nutrition in London where I qualified as a Nutritional Therapist. Central to this training was the application of the Functional Medicine model that addresses the whole person, not just their symptoms. This model investigates diet, lifestyle and life events, past and present to better understand possible imbalances within the body. My studies focused on food and nutrient interaction within the body's systems and the application of recent research on nutrition science.Given the constant evolution of nutrition science, I continue to develop my knowledge by attending regular conferences and workshops on nutrition and health.
