Nelle Ferguson is the co-owner of Nourish a nutritional consultancy/health promotion company which offers a wide range of services including one-to-one consultations and packages, supermarket tours, workshops and seminars, article writing and workplace programmes.
Nelle has a vast amount of experience working in the field of Nutrition, her vision is to bring a 'fresh approach to healthy eating' - providing the public with honest, evidence-based nutrition advice.
This year Nelle and her co-partner at Nourish have been involved in several workplace well-being programs, promoting the importance of healthy eating in the workplace by delivering 'off-site' nutrition seminars and 'on-site' nutrition consultations. Nelle's last client from the corporate sector was Santander bank, this involved an interactive presentation and discussion which focused on the adoption of bad habits in the workplace and ways of finding healthier alternatives.
Nelle delivers one-to-one consultations to clients in Oxford and Cheltenham. These involve working individually with clients to provide reliable dietary advice that is science-backed and individually tailored. Nelle's approach focuses on understanding clients needs, day-to-day routine, commitments, likes and dislikes and from this she is able to design achievable programmes that can be taken away and carried out through the rest of their lives.
Teaching nutrition and healthy cooking
Nelle also runs healthy cooking clubs to children at The Manor Prep in Abingdon which involves teaching basic cooking techniques and how to cook a variety of healthy dishes. Throughout the sessions the children are taught the principles of healthy eating and the importance of nutrition and a balanced diet.
Nelle has experience running fortnightly support groups to adults who are seeking healthy and life-long weight-loss. Each meeting involved a discussion led by Nourish nutritionists, with a new topic each week. Each member had a private and confidential weigh-in which gets monitored against their own personal progress timeline. Clubs promoted a steady, healthy and long- term weight loss and encourage lifestyle changes, as opposed to short term fixes
"I am a strong believer that even small changes to one's diet, when accumulated and habitual, will make significant differences to overall health. So I won’t lecture you about what you should eat or judge your lifestyle. Whoever the client may be, my creativity and passion for nutrition and cooking enables me to promote positive dietary changes in a fun, relaxed and effective way. To ensure that clients love the recipes I pass on, I spend a lot of time in the kitchen experimenting with different spices/herbs and food combinations. I hope that this passion for cooking inspires others to be creative and adventurous with nutritious foods, so that they - like me - can enjoy being healthy".
How I can help: As weight-loss is a common desire for clients, Nelle has vast experience designing programmes that help individuals not only to achieve, but also to maintain a healthy weight. Other specialist topics include: mother and bump nutrition; nutrition for children, teens and elderly; eating well on a budget; vegetarian and vegan nutrition issues.
In her own words: "I stongly believe in lifestyle changes instead of quick fixes. What my clients take away with them is invaluable in the way that it carries them through their whole life."
