Training, qualifications & experience
Michael’s interest in nutrition and exercise developed during his undergraduate degree in Physiology at Sheffield University. After graduating Michael gained further qualifications in fitness instruction from the YMCA London and worked as a freelance personal trainer in Central London. During this time the significance of nutrition, in both energy management to achieve weight loss and in enhancing sporting performance, was realised.
He has recently completed an MSc in Public Health/Sports Nutrition and has worked as part of the dietary assessment team on national population nutrition research studies based at the Medical Research Council, Cambridge.
Michael has a special interest in ergogenic aids and optimal nutritional strategies for sporting performance in addition to energy balance adjustment to achieve healthy and sustained weight loss.
His strong scientific background employs the most recent evidenced based findings and seeks to demystify confusion that is frequently associated with weight loss strategies. He recently worked with a group of elite Triathletes investigating metabolic rate and carbohydrate intake in the immediate post exercise period. Whatever your aim be it weight management or gaining the edge in your chosen sport Michael has the scientific background and experience to develop effective bespoke nutritional strategies.

Dietary analysis £80
The first step is the analysis of your current diet. You will keep a 3 day weighed food diary, which your nutritionist will analyse. The micronutrient quality and the ratios of macronutrients will be determined using industry standard software.
These findings will be outlined during a one to one consultation lasting approximately 1hr 15 minutes. You will receive a body composition breakdown using leading-edge bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) and be given a printed summary including directly calculated basal metabolic rate, % fat and muscle mass and segmental tissue assessment.
Dietary analysis will give you detailed advice on how best to adjust your diet to meet your personal goals and meet recommended daily intakes.
Clients who engage in significant amounts of physical activity e.g. athletes and performers, will require an assessment of energy expenditure. This includes a 3-day analysis of structured and non-structured activity. This allows your nutritionist to balance the meal plan to the energy demands of the client.
7 Day Tailored Meal Plan £120
The information gathered from your dietary analysis underpins the design of your tailored meal plan. This empowers you to make long-term, sustainable changes to your diet habits. Your plan will include 7-days of meals including snacks and shopping lists, designed to your metabolic rate, eating preferences and lifestyle.
Insight Nutrition strongly believes that health gains and weight loss benefit from the inclusion of an element of activity, we will design a weekly activity target whether you enjoy walking in the park or are a keen runner.
Sports nutrition performance plan
In addition athletes, sportsmen and performers require practical nutrition strategies before during and after training and competition. This can include impartial ergogenic aid recommendations where real performance benefit exists and is supported by current research findings.
Once you are up and running with your diet and activity programme Insight Nutrition is here to keep you on track. We recognise that motivation and advice are important factors to help you achieve your health and fitness goals.
My 30-minute support sessions will include accurate tracking of real physiological changes to body composition and metabolism. You will receive additional advice and adaptation of your programme where necessary.
