Profile

Maria Zaretti Nutritional Therapy is all about using nutritional science to get you into optimal health and peak performance. I use dietary assessment, diet and lifestyle modification, and in some cases food supplements to enable real people, just like you, to realise your health potential.

Identifying the core imbalances (loss of equilibrium) that underlie ill-health situations and supporting the body's equilibrium is the key focus of my work as a Nutritional Therapist. In this way I use Nutritional Therapy to help alleviate a wide range of conditions and assist in the recovery from many ill-health situations.

Nutritional Therapy Clinics in Kent

At my Nutritional Therapy clinics in Canterbury and Broadstairs, my professional approach recognises that the nutritional and chemical make-up of each person is unique and so your dietary needs will also therefore vary from my other clients. There is no 'one-size-fits-all', and when I see you, you will get an individualised nutrition programme, which is much more beneficial to you than generic advice you may find elsewhere.

Training, Qualifications & Experience

I am fully qualified and experienced and have insurance to practice.

I completed 5 years training gaining an Honours Degree in Nutrition from the University of Greenwich in 2009 and a Diploma in Nutritional Therapy from the UK College of Nutrition & Health, and from the renowned Institute of Optimum Nutrition in 2010.

I am a member of the British Association for Applied Nutrition and Nutritional Therapy (BANT), as well as being registered with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC). I am also fully insured to practice. As part of my professional approach I keep constantly up to date with advancements in the field of nutritional science and advancements in Functional Medicine from the IFM which educates practitioners on identifying and underlying clinical imbalances in ill-health.

Maria's History and Background

Whist training as a Nutritional Therapist, I worked at a reputable multi-disciplinary complementary health clinic in London as a Patient Advisor, guiding patients towards therapies appropriate to their personal needs to support their physical body to rebalance and heal.

After qualifying as a Nutritional Therapist, I then worked at a busy Women's Health Care Clinic in Tunbridge Wells as a Nutritional Advisor offering diet, supplement and lifestyle advice. During this time I also consulted with patients to interprete their laboratory tests. Throughout these professional apprenticeships, I also ran my own practice seeing private clients throughout the Kent area.

Articles on Nutrition

I have written and ghost written nutrition articles for magazine publications including Good House Keeping Magazine and popular Health magazines in the UK.

What to expect from a consultation

During your initial consultation we will talk through your health concerns and investigate how your health history, lifestyle and current diet may be contributing to these concerns. Together we will agree a health improvement plan based on your individual needs that typically comprises personalised diet and lifestyle recommendations to help you to achieve your health goals.

A programme of food supplements may also be recommended in support of dietary and lifestyle recommendations.

I sometimes recommend specific laboratory test(s) to help understand the nutritional factors underlying your health concerns and to help identify the best strategy. If tests are needed the results will be analysed and discussed with you at a follow-up consultation and diet and lifestyle recommendations based on the test results agreed with you.

Further encouragement and practical support as food plans, handouts and information sheets will be provided to help you make the recommended changes.

Fees

An initial consultation (90 minutes) costs £75.00.
A follow-up consultation(60 minutes) costs £60.00.

Further Information

In my practice I address general health and well-being issues and always work directly with you as an individual. I understand that your needs, situation and indeed body are totally unique to you, and so at all times I will work with you to identify the core imbalances (loss of equilibrium) that underlie ill-health situations, to provide you with advice and guidance to re-establish your body's natural healthy balance. Working with your body to achieve balance through nutrition is the key focus of my work as a Therapist.

Some biological imbalances I typically address in my nutrition consultations include:

The Clients Maria Sees as a Nutrition Therapist

I take referrals from GPs and other health care professionals and will see clients with a wide range of presenting symptoms or clinical diagnoses. Some people see me because they have suffered from chronic illness and have heard about the benefits of a natural nutritional approach to their specific symptoms. Other clients are well and simply wish to remain healthy. I am also known for working with sports people for enhanced physical performance through nutrition.

Nutrition for Vegetarians, Vegans and Meat Eaters too

Because of my personal experience of eating meat for 21 years and also being a vegetarian for over 15 years I am well informed and able to provide well-balanced nutritional advice and guidance to people with a range of diets including meat eaters (omnivores), pescetarians, vegetarians and vegans as well as others on special diets such as lactose or gluten free diets.
