Mairi Wilcock- HCPC Registered Dietitian
Stanner Nutrition Clinic
Preston Road, Grimsargh

Hello, my name is Mairi Wilcock and I am a registered dietitian with almost 20 years experience working in the NHS. I founded Stanner Nutrition Clinic because I believe that trustworthy nutrition treatment from qualified professionals should be widely available to everyone. I am committed to helping people to understand the difference between reliable, evidence-based nutrition and some of the confusing and sometimes dubious messages that are portrayed in the media and online.
I enjoy supporting people to have a greater understanding of nutrition and the role it plays in their health. I help people to make food choices that will help to manage their health condition or symptoms while fitting in with their lifestyle and food preferences.
Consultations are available for Weight Management (those wishing to lose, gain or maintain their weight), Digestive Problems (Irritable Bowel Syndrome IBS-including low FODMAP diet, Coeliac Disease, Crohns Disease, Colitis, Constipation, Diverticular Disease) Post GI Surgery (Stomas, Gastrectomy, Oesophagectomy) Cancer.
Consultations involve careful assessment of symptoms and medical history, lifestyle and eating habits plus anthropometric measurements such as height, weight and Body Mass Index. I will then work with you to produce a treatment plan which will include the provision of written support materials and individualised meal plans. Unlimited email or telephone support for your current treatment plan is included in the price of your consultation.
Face to face consultations take place in comfortable surroundings at Stanner Nutrition Clinic, however for those who have difficulty with time or travel, I offer telephone, Skype or online consultations at a time that suits you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I graduated from The Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen in 1998 with Bsc (Hons) in Nutrition and Dietetics and have been employed as a Registered Dietitian since then at several hospitals within the North West.
I have held specialist posts in Oncology, Surgery, Intensive Care and Gastroenterology which have given me a broad range of experience in the treatment of complex and multiple medical issues.
I have been involved in the training of both student and qualified Dietitians as well as other qualified healthcare professionals and have lectured on both undergraduate and postgraduate Dietetic courses.
I have completed specialist training through King's College, London and Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, to provide the low FODMAP diet for IBS.

On average, each consultation provides you with 5 hours of dedicated dietetic time including the pre- appointment work and post appointment support (please see further information for details)
I offer a range of tailored packages, please get in touch for more details.
Consultations include a thorough dietary assessment as a starting point which involves you keeping a diary of everything that you eat and drink for 7 days which is then emailed back for a pre- appointment assessment. I then use this to undertake a thorough assessment of your diet and symptoms if relevant before we have our appointment. This saves time during the appointment and it also gives a more accurate assessment than trying to recall what you have eaten during your consultation.
I also use the information I learn about you to produce a meal plan which is tailored to your food preferences. I usually email or post this on to you within 7 days of your appointment.
I always keep in touch via email on a weekly basis just to check how my clients are progressing, however email and telephone support is included, as questions often arise in the days or weeks following the consultation.
