HAVE YOU BEEN TOLD TO SIMPLY GO HOME AND LIVE WITH YOUR SYMPTOMS...?
Do you have an 'un-explained' health condition, or a health concern which falls under no specific diagnosable criteria? In other words, you may have simply been told that you're not unwell (perhaps until your condition has progressed sufficiently as to fall under the remit of a medical diagnosis), and this is undoubtably a hard blow for anyone to take. Naturally, we take to the internet and books to try and seek answers to what's going on with us. As a qualified nutritional therapist, this area is what i would really call the 'core' of what I specialise and have trained in.
WHO I WORK WITH:
An experienced and established based Reg. Nutritional Therapist working in private clinic in London (waiting list only for Stockholm). My main business is private clients, although I also do consultancy work for raw-food producers, run yoga day-retreats, work-shops and work with charities.
- GUT REVITALISATION PROGRAM
- SUGAR REHAB PROGRAM
- 3-STEP WEIGHT LOSS PROGRAM
- UNEXPLAINED HEALTH CONDITIONS - where your condition fails to fit into diagnostic criteria
We look at the subtleties - what pathophysiological mechanism could be underlying your symptoms on a biological system basis. What could be aggravating, perpetuating or mediating an imbalance, or inhibiting metabolic function leading to dysfunction. Are there nutritional in-sufficiencies, leading to a lack of appropriate enzymatic function to keep up with demand. Do you have a genetic variance which could potentially expose you to a lesser function, coupled of an excessive demand due to lifestyle such as alcohol consumption, stress, lack of movement and exercise, which predisposes you to an inability to break something down?
In particular, i look at functional systems which underpin physiology such as assimilation, elimination, biotransformation (detoxification), transport (of wastes/nutrients/oxygen), energy production, and structure.
I ask my clients to complete an extensive health questionnaire with details of eating history, preferences and habits, together with health questionnaires, information on health objectives together with a food diary. I ask that these are returned to me prior to a consultation to allow me to really read through and consider your personal information in detail beforehand. This essentially saves you consultation costs, and ensures you have something to take home from the first consultation so that you can start straight away.
I LOOK AT THE ROOT CAUSE
I use investigative Functional Medicineprinciples(see Institute of Functional Medicine) which underpins Nutritional Therapy. A form of 'systems biology', we look at whats going on metabolically for that person, what's not working, what irritant may need to be removed from the diet, what needs to be supported etc.
To illustrate, even in the case of weight gain and such like, which is often misunderstood to be simply a 'lack of willpower' situation there may be compounding factors of increased hunger hormones or dysfunctional energy processing.
I don't believe in addressing symptoms - I believe in targeting the root cause.
