About me

My name is Karen Swindall and I'm a Registered Nutritional Therapist and Health Coach - my job is giving my clients the information, motivation and courage to make changes to their diet, ultimately improving their overall health and wellbeing.

I specialise in supporting people 40+ who are fed up and know that the  “quick-fix” plans doesn't work for them, they end up putting even more weight on in the end!

They are confused by all the different advice out there and just want someone to point them in the right direction and gently guide them  (baby steps) into making better choices not only with food but lifestyle recommendations too.

What my clients say is " That feeling of being deprived doesn't even enter their heads, stress around food disappeared, stress elsewhere reduces and any issues such as bloating, reflux and gut issues disappear".

Many of my female clients also say " hormonal issues, mood swings and feeling fatigue become much more manageable once they started to eat properly  and deal with any stressful issues in a positive way, then their hormonal issues didn't take centre stage anymore.

As a Registered Nutritional Therapist, I help my clients to understand how nutrition works in supporting the underlying processes in the body which may be contributing to their health issues.

Each client receives:

  • A 90 minute 1:1 first consultation where I go through your past and present health history, your lifestyle, medications (past & present) and your food diary.
  • Specific foods they may need to introduce or increase on such as fruits and vegetables or foods they need to reduce or remove like as sugar, dairy, gluten or processed foods.
  • Handouts on the benefits of certain foods
  • eBooks with lovely recipes making it easier to incorporate changes to one’s diet.
  • Supplements that they may require for short periods of time, and the reasons why.
  • Recommendations on clinical tests and interpretations, if applicable
  • Health coaching sessions
  • Lifestyle recommendations.
  • Email support

Where do the sessions take place?

I see clients in my consultation room at home. I also continue to work online through Zoom/ WhatsApp/Skype or phone calls with clients further a field or those that wish to.

Testimonials

My biggest concern or challenge before signing up to do a programme with Karen was I thought I had my  midlife symptoms under control, but weight gain and my yo-yoing hormones became too much, and I needed to seek help. My diet had changed little over the years, but now in my 50s, my body needed a re-set.

My favourite part of the programme was to have a plan tailored to me, not just about diet but about me as a whole person. The plan was clearly mapped out, easy to follow and backed up with coaching support. There were no fad diets or feeling hungry, just subtle changes that made a huge difference, controlled my hormone spikes, and instantly gave me more energy. I was very impressed!

I would recommend Karen to a friend and say, Please do it. It's worth every penny. It is empowering to have someone guide you and not to have to troll through so many resources trying to work it out for yourself. I would never have asked my GP for the blood tests suggested by Karen, and I'm happy I did. The blood results allowed us to tailor the plan even more, and I discovered I had an underactive thyroid! If you feel off par, it can be easy to stick your head in the sand and just get on with life.

August 2022

My biggest concern/ challenge before signing up to do a programme with karen was I needed to lower my blood sugar levels without losing any more weight and without having to keep lots of records and weigh everything.

My favourite part of the programme was our sessions online where I felt that I could talk frankly and query what I did not understand.

I would recommend Karen to a friend because of her personalised approach to dealing with any of your concerns, her wiliness to answer queries, her very friendly approach and her reasonable fee for what she contributes and gives you during your programme/programmes. It is not all about what you eat but a lot more too.

July 2022

I met Karen at a very low point beaten by long term conditions and approaching my 50's. Karen really listened to me building up history from childhood to date to advise a controlled approach to increasing supportive foods and eliminating problem ones.

Over a number of sessions, I would say I have presented Karen with many challenges and she has researched these meticulously, offering detailed solutions.

My life in 9 months of working with Karen looks very different. I no longer have a bad relationship with food, my long term conditions have improved sufficiently for me to take a regular programme of exercise and I have lost a significant amount of weight. I now have excellent blood sugar and cholesterol results and have eliminated any weight risks.

In summation, I have gained precious time and an improved life working with Karen and would highly recommend her services to those looking to make better health choices.

2021

I came to see Karen because I knew my eating habits had become unhealthy, I was gaining weight, suffered with bloating, felt stressed, had sleep issues and was perimenopausal. I also did no exercise.

My favourite part of the programme was cooking new healthy desserts with my daughters and trying main meal recipes that were suitable for all the family. I also benefitted from the encouragement to put exercise in place and met with new people.

I would recommend Karen for her knowledge and for the time she spends looking at her client’s needs. She’s be able to answer their questions and to enhance the quality of their lives with the help she gives. She helped me to establish better healthy eating habits and new exercise habits. I was able to lose weight, no longer feel bloated, my hormones are much more balance and she has helped me to manage my stress better. I am truly thankful for all Karen’s support.

November 2021

I visited Karen a few months ago, feeling tired; having many painful head issues and just generally feeling low. Karen helped me to get some blood tests for general health testing along with some food allergy/intolerance tests. With the aid of the results and Karen’s patient understanding and knowledge, I was able to adjust my diet.

In just 6 weeks I have lost 10.5 lbs in weight, feel more motivated and have hardly any painful head issues. Its almost too good to believe as I didn’t even think my painful head issues were related to my diet. I am truly thankful that I sort the advice from Karen who has proven to be the best professional help I could ever have wished for. I just wish I had taken the plunge earlier.
