About me

A personal Nutrition & Dietetic Consultancy provided by a Registered Dietitian specialising in the dietary treatment of all digestive disorders, including IBS (fully trained in FODMAP diets) inflammatory bowel disorders (Crohns, ulcerative colitis), Coeliac, malabsorption disorders, anaemias, liver disorders, general digestive problems and indigestion.

The service is provided by a Specialist Registered Dietitian with over 20 years experience in the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders so you have assurance that you are consulting with a professional that is able to offer the expert help you are looking for. Dietitians are the only nutrition professionals to be statutorily regulated and are the only qualified health professionals that assess, diagnose and treat nutritionally-related medical conditions.

Many people understandably feel overwhelmed and confused with the information abounding on the internet and in the media and don't know which avenue to turn - as a Registered Dietitian I will help you on the right path to achieving long-term health improvements.

(Please note, although I have a wide range of experience and knowledge in diet, nutrition and health, my service specialises entirely in the therapeutic dietary treatment of digestive disorders - I do not provide a service specifically for designing weight management plans/general healthy eating plans or sports nutrition).

My particular interest is IBS in both my established Private Practice and NHS clinics.
The Gastroenterology Specialist Group of the British Dietetic Association have produced guidelines for the treatment of IBS, which recommend that Dietitians attend advanced training in order to treat IBS with the FODMAP diet. This dietary treatment has been shown to be extremely effective when supervised by an experienced FODMAP trained dietitian, using the most up-to-date food lists and resources. (The FODMAP diet has been featured on the successful TV series "The Food Hospital" on Channel 4.) I have undertaken this specialist training from the UK's leading Centre for FODMAP diets at Kings College London and Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and can assess whether this is the most suitable approach for you. I will guide you smoothly through both the exclusion and reintroduction phases of this treatment . I will provide you with the high quality booklets/resources from the above establishment as they contain the most up-to-date UK information and food lists in this continually advancing treatment.

Consultations will include:

  • a full assessment and diagnosis of the nutritional/dietary links in relation to your symptoms and medical conditions.
  • Nutritional assessment
  • Professional planning and detailed advise on how to manage your symptoms and meet personal nutritional and health goals through effective dietary measures.
  • Personal diet treatment plan, resources and information, taking into account your lifestyle and personal eating preferences
  • Advise to ensure the nutritional adequacy of your diet
  • Reliable answers and solutions to your nutritional concerns - you will have ample time to discuss whatever is on your mind
  • Reports to your GP or medical Consultant and requests for additional investigations or prescriptions (if appropriate)
  • Access via phone or email to support you with your diet (included).

With 20 years of experience working within clinical dietetics alongside medical consultants from various specialisms, I am comfortably able to determine dietary treatment plans that often need to combine multiple medical conditions and problems. As a HCPC (Health & Care Professions Council) Registered Dietitian, you can be sure that these are based on current clinical guidelines and research that are shown to be the most effective treatments to enable you to be in control of and manage your condition.

Whilst my chosen specialisms are mentioned, I have gained a wide range of experience and knowledge in nutrition, diet and health over many years.

The nutritional adequacy of your diet for your overall health & well-being is of paramount importance and you can be assured that this is always taken into account when planning your diet. Also, you can be assured that as a Registered Dietitian I do not personally sell or push expensive nutritional supplements or products to you and will recommend supplements only when there is a particular therapeutic need and will advise on various options of where you can easily obtain them, so there are no surprise add-on charges to your consultation for such items.

Consultations are generally available daytime on Wednesdays/Thursdays or Fridays. Evening appointments may also be available.

Medical referrals or self referrals accepted.
