Jessica is a fully registered Nutritional Therapist and is based in Nuffield Health Medical Centre in Canary Wharf. Her approach to nutritional therapy and wellness encompasses the functional medicine model. By shifting the traditional disease-centred focus of medical practice to a more patient-centred approach. This model focuses on identifying problems with underlying body systems that may be contributing to signs and symptoms of ill-health and disease. (www.functionalmedicine.org).
In 2008 after starting her career in Applied Biology and Biopharmaceutical Science she soon realised making pharmaceutical drugs was not the path she wanted to take to help people achieve optimal health. From there Jessica went on to study Nutritional Therapy from the College of Naturopathic Medicine and is now a member of the British Association of Applied Nutrition and Nutritional Therapy as well as the Complementary and Natural Health Council.
She has worked for many reputable companies in promoting health and wellbeing for corporate employees through the functional medicine approach. At present she also works in Barclays HQ as their in house Nutritional Therapist where she runs a very successful Healthy Weight Program for employees, does 1-2-1 consultations, educational seminars and works with the restaurants Head Executive Chef in designing menus and promoting healthy options.
The first step is for Jessica to understand your issues, as well as your goals. Her approach is the "whole-person" approach, so first of all she would like to invite you to have a 10-minute conversation on the phone to run through your case or book in a Free 15 minute consultation and meet in person before the initial consultation. This provides us with an opportunity to check that we can work together and that she can actually help you. If she can't Jessica will aim to put you in the direction of another suitable healthcare professional. This initial call is free of charge.
- Canary Wharf - please call 0207 068 6750 or email as above.
Once you've agreed to move forward, you will be emailed a comprehensive pre-consultation questionnaire that takes roughly 10 minutes to complete and asks questions about all of your body systems, as well as medical history and lifestyle factors. We recommend you fill this out as soon as possible so that Jessica can view your presenting case well in advance of your consultation. By doing that, you enable her to start learning about your health history to date, so that we can focus on the root causes of any imbalances you may be suffering from rather than on merely relieving the symptoms.

Digestion: Ulcerative Colitis - C. Burridge - Creative Director
'I had been slightly sceptical about nutritional advice for curing what I thought to be a muscle strain. Jessica felt that I had toxins trapped in my forearm and gave me a simple plan to adjust my food and gym supplements. Having been in pain for 4 months, I was amazed that through my new plan the pain disappeared with 3 – 4 weeks. I have taken on 80% of the plan as part of my ongoing regime and been pain free ever since. Jessica is a true professional and further more explains all of the ‘science’ in plain English so it was easy to understand. I would have no hesitation in recommending Jessica to anyone who is looking for advice.'
Weight-loss and Hypermobility - Sarah Birks, primary school teacher
‘On the 1st of June I first met Jess, I was extremely unhappy and in pain. I suffer from Hypermobility, this means my joints can be painful and occasionally sub lax or dislocate. I was at a point in my life where I was extremely overweight, and was beginning to wake up in the night with severe pain in my hips. I knew I had to do something, normal diets and 'fad' diets just didn't work for me. My doctor had put me forward for early testing, and had said if it came back clear he would arrange pain medication for me. I didn't want to be reliant on pain medication all my life; it was at this point I met Jess.
Jess is amazing; I went in and was made to feel totally at ease. I had to answer a load of questions and for the first time ever I felt listened to. We devised a plan that fit around me, and the main focus was to relieve my pain in my joints, weight loss would be a happy bonus, I was given a detailed list of do's and don'ts and Jess was always available on email for any questions or queries I had. All the supplements I was taking were fully explained to me, so I knew exactly why I was taking them, this was also written down so if I forgot I could check. Going on the initial 4 week detox was a challenge, remembering my supplements in the morning and the evening, cravings confused me but Jess was there to help explain why I had these cravings and what they meant.
On our second meeting I felt so much better, I had only woken up twice in the night with pain, I had so much more energy, I was beginning to get complements about weight loss and how good I looked. My mental transformation is what surprised me more. My relationship with food had never been healthy, but this had made me re-evaluate what food was and how it related to my body. With all Jess's advice and guidance I felt I could trust myself to not only maintain this 'lifestyle', it's not a diet, Jess retrains you into creating a healthy lifestyle. I was able to go on an all-inclusive holiday and actually lose weight whilst still enjoying great food and drink. My outlook has completely changed; I have a far better understanding of nutrition and health.
Without Jess's help and guidance I would not be able to have gone water rafting recently as I was over the weight limit before, I would not have had the courage I had on holiday to walk around in my swimsuit with no sarong or cover up, I would not have a renewed sense of self belief. But most importantly to is I've hardly had any pain, my joints have been so much better, I've gone from having at least 6 issues a week to maybe 1 a month if at all! Jess has helped transform me, not just physically but also mentally. My relationship with food is now far healthier, I know I still need to touch base and keep on track as I've only been doing this since June 1st and it's only the beginning of September, but I'm positive that if I wobble Jess will be there to help me in a supportive and non-judgemental way.’
