I am truly passionate about naturally nourishing, life-giving food, and I have a profound belief in the ability of personalised nutrition to support health by restoring balance and by harnessing the body's innate healing abilities. As a practitioner I am dedicated to offering my clients personalised, evidence based nutritional advice and treatment plans, within a functional medicine framework. My ultimate aim is to educate my clients in order to enable them to pro-actively take their health into their own hands, and make life long positive changes.
Nutritional therapy is based on functional and molecular medicine, nutritional biochemistry and preventative medicine. Treatment plans are personalised and patient centred, based on nutritional science and take into consideration the individuals unique biochemistry (genetic and epigenetic), their lifestyle and their environment.
Nutritional therapy does not diagnose or treat disease, and is not a replacement for medical advice. Rather practitioners use a range of tools to help find and assess biochemical, metabolic and nutritional imbalances which may be contributing to an individuals symptoms and health concerns.
Nutritional therapy can effectively be applied to support all manner of chronic complaints Including; gastrointestinal problems, skin complaints, bone and joint conditions, autoimmune diseases, thyroid problems, hormonal imbalances, female health concerns including PMS, fertility, irregular periods and painful periods, blood sugar imbalance and sub-optimum immunity etc. Treatment is additionally helpful in supporting clients who are experiencing fatigue, chronic stress, allergies and intolerances etc.
Nutritional therapy is also an effective tool for detoxification, healthy weight management and peak performance, and can help to enhance and optimise general health & wellbeing. Treatment can also be helpful in supporting those recovering from disordered eating patterns and can additionally be applied to design & support special & restricted diets e.g. vegetarian, vegan, gluten and dairy free.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a registered nutritional therapist who graduated with a BSc in Nutritional Medicine from the University of West London in 2011. I am fully insured to practice and am a member of the British Association for Applied Nutrition and Nutritional Therapy (BANT) and the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC), who are approved as an accredited register by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care. I am also listed on the register of complementary therapists created by www.commissioning.GP, and as such I am able to accept referrals from GPs and other NHS health providers.
I am committed to continuing professional development, and regularly update and expand my nutritional knowledge by reading scientific research, attending webinars, online summits, seminars and courses. In January 2015 I completed the Institute of Functional Medicine programme 'Functional Medicine: A systems approach to reversing the epidemic of chronic disease'.
I have a special interest and expertise in whole food, plant based (vegetarian & vegan) nutrition, both in terms of how to stay healthy on a plant based diet, and how to apply plant based nutrition to support and improve health. I also have a particular interest in female health conditions including hormonal imbalances, hypothyroidism and osteoporosis, and I am additionally able to support women with healthy weight management. Furthermore I am passionate about helping my clients to achieve and maintain optimum gut / digestive health, which I believe to be fundamental to overall health. Therefore supporting digestive health is often a central focus of many of my clients nutrition plans.
Prior to setting up my nutrition practice I worked as a dental practice manager for over 15 years at a busy, west London practice.
