About me
Nutrition and lifestyle therapy doesn’t just soothe the symptoms - it looks for the root cause of your health issues. Of course it’s all about food and lifestyle, because these factors have a profound impact on the way we all feel. In the consultation, I bring my scientific understanding & 15 years of clinical experience, and you bring your health story so far. Together we look at enhancing food and lifestyle choices, sometimes drawing on laboratory testing and supplementation (when needed and agreed with you) with one aim: to feel better!
How a consultation works:
Before a consultation, we can have a short chat on the phone (free of charge) so I can understand a bit about the situation. If you then decide to go ahead with the consultation, I will ask you to complete a food diary and provide some other key information. Information in advance means we can make best use of the time during the actual consultation.
During the consultation, I will chat more with you to learn some more about the health issues and your goals. Then with your goals in mind, we can link symptoms to possible imbalances in the body - which then lays the groundwork for a health plan…
We will then work together to come up with an eating plan and lifestyle ideas that you find motivational and achievable. Nutritional supplements and tests (non-invasive laboratory or GP testing) may be recommended if needed.
At the end of this appointment we will discuss follow-up consultations, and agree an appropriate time frame.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a qualified nutritionist/nutritional therapist registered with the British Association for Nutrition & Lifestyle Medicine (BANT) and the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC). I sat on the Profession Specific Board for the CNHC for six years.
As well as nearly 15 years of clinical experience in my own practice, for over 10 years I worked as principle lecturer and Training Clinic Lead for the most established nutritional therapy training provider in the UK: the Institute for Optimum Nutrition, London. I have completed a Masters in teaching clinical practice, and am currently studying at doctoral level.
In addition, I work as a freelance nutritional advisor for Yorktest Laboratories where I support individuals and families in managing food sensitivities for better health.
On a personal note, I am a mother of four lovely (nearly all grown up!) children and have personal experience of challenges such as food intolerances, eczema and ADHD in my own life and that of my children.

"When I was nearly 17, I started to feel shaky and tired when I was just doing my normal stuff. Then this got worse and I started having panic attacks and feeling depressed. I was afraid that I was going mad. Then my mum suggested that I talk with Emma, a Nutritional Therapist. I thought, "Crap, it's veg from now on!" But I had nothing to lose. I filled in some questionnaires and kept a food diary for a few days. And then Emma explained to me what she'd worked out from all of that. It was easier to stick with what Emma suggested than I had expected (and I didn’t have to give up meat!) and it made sense because she explained it all to me. I have felt physically more healthy since changing how I eat, I don't shake anymore, the panic attacks have gone and my mood is fine again - like any other teenager. I'd definitely say that it's worth a try with a nutritional therapist if you experience the same kind of things that I did."

"I just wanted to say, why haven’t I met you before?! I can’t thank you enough for your advice and efforts in making my diet better. I’m walking around now between 79-81 kg and I really feel good. I can’t believe that I ate more and lost weight. Thank you for educating me."
Aziz, 28
"Emma provided an excellent service to my teenage son. It was no mean feat for her to engage a typical teenage lad in discussions about his health, but Emma was superb. The positive impact of her advice and support not only helped him at the time of his consultation, but has been carried forward over the months which followed. In fact, I'd go further to say that Emma's thoughtful, accessible and expert advice has influenced our whole family's understanding of the role which nutrition plays in our well being, both physically and psychologically."
Sue, 48
"As a busy middle-aged manager, I was concerned about my diet and in particular my cholesterol levels.
After taking Emma's excellent advice, my total cholesterol has reduced from 6.7 to 4.2. I am very happy about that!"
Peter, 58
"Emma's advice and support has helped me to lose 3 stone in weight and to feel much better in myself. Also, I used to get every cold and flu that was going around, but with her advice, my immune system has improved so much that I have had 2 days ill from work in the last 12 months compared to more than 30 in the past. I highly recommend Emma's knowledge and ability to help, as she is clear on what you need to be doing, makes it relevant to your life and doesn't offer any kind of fad or quick fix solution."
