Danielle Davies, Sports Nutritionist and Registered Dietitian
Hi, I'm Danielle, founder of Human Performance Nutrition. I'm an ex professional athlete with over 18 years experience working as a Dietitian and Sports Nutritionist.
I've been incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to work in a number of clinical settings and specialities, working with a wide range of individuals and groups spanning over 25 years in professional and ameuteur sport. During the earlier part of my career in sport, I gained valuable insight into the complexities of working with a broad range of clients as team masseur for the Amateur Swimming Association and in private practice working closely with athletes and non athletes, helping individuals to manage their own chronic and acute soft tissue problems.
To compliment my clinical experience as a Dietitian and one to one consultations, I have both industry and educational experience having worked with a number of national food and beverage manufacturers in product development and marketing and more recently lecturing in Sports Therapy and Sports Performance Nutrition through guest lecturing, seminars and group work.
I am highly experienced Sports Nutritionist and I'm keen to foster a positive attitude towards food and nutrition that encourages the individual to enjoy their diet while optimising recovery, adaptation to training, health and longevity. I have particular expertise in how to optimise the effects of strength and conditioning, endurance and mixed martial art programs by applying the science and practical application of nutritional medicine. I place a heavy emphasis on using nutrition as a tool for improving all outcomes of athletic performance and injury prevention.
I am an accomplished sportswoman in my own right having achieved International honors as an endurance cyclist. I was a national record holder for over 20 years and a member of the Senior Women’s National Road Cycling Team forming part of the Women’s Tour de France Team. I also enjoyed a number of years as part of the National Women’s Downhill Team and competed in 2 World Championships.
ME/CFS/FMS, Chronic pain
More recently, I have developed an interest in pain research and the management of fatigue syndromes such as M.E, CFS, FMS and how nutrition and exercise play a key role in recovery. I currently work closely with pain management specialists and rehabilitation specialist in developing individualised programs for recovery.
While I have in depth expertise in sports nutrition, a large proportion of my time is still dedicated to clinical nutrition and enabling clients to address their own health issues. I'm equally passionate about this and gain a huge amount of satisfaction when clients report either a reduction or total resolution of symptoms. I have many years experience working with clients with digestive issues. IBS, inflammatory bowel disease, poor appetite, bloating and gas to name a few. My interest stemmed from seeing the profound difference diet and nutrition can make to patients on the gastroenterology ward at St James Hospital and I took this knowledge and applied to my private clients with incredible results which continue to evolve as newer research and treatment options become available.
I am committed to empowering you as a client and equipping you with knowledge to self-manage your own health. While I have an enormous amount of experience working with all aspects of sports nutrition, a large proportion of my time is still dedicated to helping individuals and groups optimise their health, challenge acute and chronic disease through nutrition and lifestyle changes and regain a sense of control. As part of your consultation with me, you will be provided with a personalised dietary treatment plan. This is unique to you and acknowledges your goals, current dietary intake, activity levels, lifestyle and psychosocial aspects of your life. My intuitive approach will provide you with the tools to actively take control of your health.

I approached Danielle to help me fine tune my nutrition in preparation for a bodybuilding competition. Having already competed before I was wanting to take it to the next level but in doing so making sure my nutrition was designed and planned out so that I was doing it the healthiest way possible and getting maximum results.
Danielle put a plan together, we met several times in person and had phone consultations, she was with me every step of the way to the competition.
I went and won a British Title, placed 5th in the world and 3rd in the European championships.
Danielle is now currently helping me with my next goal which is powerlifting. I'm now looking forward to see what happens! X
I contacted Danielle 5 weeks from the biggest fight of my life in Rochester New York and I was 16 lbs overweight. After being stared at very scarily Danielle set me up a new eating plan and tweaked my training to boost fat burning. I followed the new plan and it worked ! All this a month before my 40th birthday. I would recommend Danielle to everyone. Her advice also helped my film 'fighting down in Bethlehem'. Brad pitt eat your heart out haha
